I just got my housing assignment in the mail today. I am living on Corso dei Tintori which is right on the Arno River and only 2 minutes walking distance from FUA's campus! The apartment is on the first floor (thankfully) and it houses 9 girls. Amber & I are both excited to meet our 7 roommates. The apartment looks beautiful. I am really happy with the match. I am starting to get everything together and am sadly finding out that packing is going to be an all day event on Wednesday. However, now I don't feel so iffy about bringing a lot of stuff with me since I am on the first floor and will not have to be lugging it up lots of flights of narrow stairs! What luck! That is all for now. ... read more

Hayley drove us from Raleigh 2 Greensboro and we got in late afternoon. Dropped all our stuff off at Hayley's student digs and then headed 2 get some food at an Irish bar (there must be more Irish bars in the USA than there is bars in Ireland!!) The food was real good and the pint of Boddingtons went down well. Went 2 back 2 Hayley's 4 2 catch some zzz. In the mornin got up and sorted out r train tickets 2 New Orleans which took 4 ages. Hell some Amtrak staff seem to switch seamlessly between been a real pain in the arse 2 been real ... read more

After two packed days of visiting Duke, it was nice to take it slow and digest all that I had seen and heard. So for my last two days in North Carolina I head in to downtown Greensboro and found a great hang out, Alex's Cheesecakes. There I was able to get caught up online while the dogs waited in the car for their walk. The weather was beautiful and Greensboro is small enough that you can see all of it by foot before getting close to being tired, quite the opposite of walking around DC.... read more

Goodmorning! This morning I'm writing from a cheerfully lit library in Greensboro as my Red Roof Inn has no internet connection. That's okay though, because it helps to get me out and about. I DO like the fact that it's fine with Red Roof that I'm traveling with two pups. There isn't even an additional charge. Well let me back up a tad. I left Taylorsville for the arduous 2 hour drive to Greensboro yesterday afternoon. After spending 7 wonderful nights relaxing with Denise I was almost anxious to be moving on. And I arrived at my hotel around dusk, which just makes a new town look that much more uninviting to me when I'm traveling alone. But this morning is bright and sunny and after taking the pups for a one hour walk, I'm ... read more

Yay Greensboro, NC. First off I must mention the irony in that it took us only 3.5 hours to travel the nearly 300 miles to Greensboro while it usually takes almost 4 hours to travel the 130 miles to the beach. I wish we had a private helicopter to fly us to the beach because if only we could drive across the bay where we are in VA it would only be a 45 minute drive. But alas, no bridge there... So, North Carolina. We went and stayed with Phil and Melissa and had a blast hanging out with them, Brian and Danny. Axel was a real sport listening as we regaled our college days over and over again. Danny gave us a great tour of GC and even got a security guard to let us ... read more
