Hi everyone:
Well we arrived in Waxhaw, NC this afternoon. And our hosts and hostess, Daryl & Leshia had planned a get-together with 18 of Sharon's former colleagues from Wycliffe Bible Translators. JAARS is the technical operation centre for those involved in the areas of communications (i.e. computers, etc.), maintenance and aviation programs. It operates training for those heading to overseas assignments for the first time and also recurrancy training for members heading back to their overseas assignments. This is also home to some historical museums for the organization, too. It was great for Sharon to see some of her friends from the years she spent in the Philippines and for Eric to meet for the first time and to enjoy the evening with them.
It was rather an uneventful day other than that! We have lots of pictures of the people who were here but we won't bore you with them as you won't know them anyway, for the most part! But if any of you think you may know some of the folk from here, we would be glad to email them to you. Just drop a note to ericm48@rogers.com.
Oh and by the way, enjoy the extra pictiures
of yours truly that you requested last night!
Hmm, not sure I should tell you this or not but did I ever get one over on my masters today! They stopped for lunch at Shooneys and my master had a grilled chicken sandwich, of which he only ate half! Said he was full! So he cut up the other half and asked for a container to take it in the car with. The waitress brought him a styrofoam "hamburger" container. When he came out to the car, he fed me about 1/2 of the chicken. He said that that was enough for me for now. He closed the container and put it on the floor behind his seat. After we were on the road for a while I decided that I wanted some more. So I laid down with my rump on the hump in the backseat floor and my head right down by that container of chicken! Well, they thought I was just sleeping in an unusal position!! Tee hee! But I was really tring to get at the chicken. When the stryofoam container made some noise with my paws trying to open it, my master decided to pull
over and move it. By the time he stopped and got the back door open - yup, you guessed it - I had gobbled it all down!! Boy was it good!! In fact straight up delicious!!
Well, tomorrow being Easter Sunday and all, the folks are going to the 9:30 AM service, so I had better get my masters off to bed! And then they are heading out for a BBQ'd steak dinner at a friend's place! Wonder if I will get any real bones for my Sunday treat? Maybe I should get my basket ready and leave it out tonight for them!!
Anyway, Happy Easter to you all and may the reason for this special day be the resurrection of Jesus Christ in your life, and not something about eggs and rabbits!
Nite - and love to y'all,
Benji
