Hey everyone , My mobile hasnt been working over here so i have a new US number if you need it mail me ,So off i left on my travels on 29th Nov 2008 a momentous day , i had said my goodbyes at the airport and just manage to hold myself together , i had flew to London to spend the night at the Travellodge at Terminal 5 and fly out to New York in the morning , when i checked in at glasgow for the New York flight i asked if there was any cance of an upgrade and they said yeah no problem the flight is over booked by 7 so i can put you forward for an upgrade result !! I got up bright and early thinking i would have plenty of time for my flight at 11 , was i wrong or what , by the time i got over to the airport checked in and went through security , i had to then take a train ride to where the gate was and just as i got there they started boarding and when i boarded they said there was no available upgrades , i was
not amused lol .Flight was long and boring as usual but i discovered we had Briteny Spears flying first class which is why im convinced i didnt get a free upgrade lol
I arrived in New York to some pretty heavy rain and i was thinking just my luck , by the time i got to my hotel/hostel which was better than i was expecting it was around 8pm and i was pretty tired but i was soo hungry so i ventured out in the rain , when i went outside i forgot about my stomach as i was drawn to the lights in the sky as the whole sky was lite up, so i followed the glow in the sky which led me to Times Square , only a 5 min walk from where i was staying this place was Amazing so much happening so many lights and the place was packed even in the rain , after wandering around there for about 30min i got some food and went back to dry off and get some sleep .
The next day i was up at 7 , yes i know i cant even get up at
7 to go to work but hey i was up and i decided to make the most of it , the rain had thankfulluy cleared ,i got talking to some people the night before about the Empire State building and they where telling me how busy it gets and the waiting times can get up around 2 hours , so i thought id beat the rush and be there for it opening at 8 , it was again very close to where i was staying so i didnt have far to walk , when i arrived there was maybe only around 30 people there so straight up to the top i went ears poping on the way to the 87th floor , the views up there are something everyone should experience i was truley amazed and spend about 45 mins up there just looking around , when i pulled myself away from the views ,back down i went and on to Broadway it was full of workers going to work and i wish i had eyes on the back of my head as some of the women here are stunning and i was rubber necking every 2 seconds hehe ,
so im walking down Broadway and ended up walking on the Brooklyn bridge so i decided to walk over it and again got some amazing views of New York from the other side , had a stroll around Brooklyn and had some brekkie a New York Bagel , everyone in New York eats Bagels and drinks Starbucks , there is a Starbucks on every street corner and i kid you not , they love there coffee here , from the Brooklyn Bridge i walked over to where the World Trade Centers used to stand , there aint much there now just a huge construstion site , but its very strange to stand there and think what actually happend here very surreal , after there i decided to go see what was happening at Wall St. on my was there i came across a film set ,they where filming Ugly Betty so i stood aroung there for a bit taking a few pictures and my flash must have went off and the security came running over to me and gave me a row ,i was going to tell him where to go but he was much bigger than me lol
Wall
st wasnt much to write about pretty boring , after there i caught the Ferry to Staten Island which passes the Statue of Liberty and got some cool pics ,they try to get you to stay over in Staten Island and say no need to hurry back to Manhattan , but there is nothing there so i caught the next ferry back ,when i got back to Manhattan i walked all the way back up to the hostel by which time i was walking for almost 8 hours and i was exhausted ,when i got back i had planned to go to the top of the rock which is the Rockafella center to see NY at night , so i went along with Lisa and Nicole two Australian girls who where in the same dorm i was , again the views were pretty spectacular , after there we walked around Time Square again for a bit and then it was back to chill as i could hardly walk as my feet were aching .
Next day was a little less sightseing had a little lye in until 9 then went out for breakfast with Lisa , then we walked
up to Central Park and around there for a few hours and walked all the way back down to Grenwich Village which was pretty cool which by this time was 3pm and again i thought my feet were going to drop off so headed back up to hostel and helped Lisa around to Penn Station with her bags,as she was leaving for Chicago at 4 , after that i got my dinner at a wee irish pub just across from where i was staying and had a few beers ,by that time it was 7pm and i went for a lye down as i was shattered , woke up the next morning lol
My last day in NY and i just wandered around 5th av and Madison Av doin a little shoppping, to pass the time i also strolled around Chinatown which when you walk into you really think you are in a different country it was spot the white man and i was him lol well i had better go money is running out on tinternet im going to see about a laptop as internet is too expensive and most places have free wireless , will put more
pics on next time ive got loads more, Florida tomorrow yay some warm sunshine , and tonight im going to see Beyonce and Britney Spears turn on the xmas lights at the Rockafella Center so hope everyone is well take care much love cj x
My summary of NY , i will be sad to leave as i love the place, i like the feel of the city its an amazing place and its been a truley great experience ,although its amazing its strange at the same time , people here walk around talking to themselves and in cars they just beep there horn for no reason there is always a siren in the background somewhere and always a black guy from the Bronx trying to sell his cd , as much as people say folk from New York are rude and unhelpful i havent experienced anything of the sort , if anything they have been very helpfull , i will defo come back here and thats not just for the beautiful women it will be for the place
