Well, this concludes my February break
Kids packing upI can't very well post pictures of my students on the web so... this is as much as I could... it was a great night of skiin'
and man did I soak up every last second possible.
Thrilling time.
first, just a couple days before February break, we got hit with the biggest winter storm ever in years! it dumped about two feet of snow on us and came with cold weather that would take your fingers right off. It was awesome! We got a snow day on Wednesday and I was packed and ready for skiing just as they called it! I got right in the car and headed out to Bristol. when I got there, such an amazing surprise... yes, i was expecting powder, but the east coast, heavy, wet powder... nope! it was light, fluffy, west coast pure powder! It was amazing. I got fresh tracks my first 7 runs and kicked my royal ass that entire day! It was the best skiing I've ever had out east. Hardly anyone was on the mountain... oh, the night before and after we had ski club so I threw a couple pictures in of that too... After ski club, I headed over to drop some things off to Michael and decided to fall back in his untouched lawn of snow... so awesome. I returned home
to find our driveway in dissaray so my downstairs neighbors and I hung outside and did out best to clear it, but we couldn't (um... I'm not a shoveling fan) so, we played in the snow and waited for the plow guy instead! Seriously... I did running jumps into the snow... shit... there's never enough of that white stuff for us adults to be able to play in it! It was awesome.
Ok... so, we worked one last day and then it was break.
First, there was a tiny Bluegrass festival in Ithaca, NY.
An amazing show Friday night...
Opener Old School Freight Train who did an I Know You Rider that would blow your mind! so talented...
Followed by the all amazing Sam Bush whom I've never had the privilege of seeing live before and was totally blown away. Of course, somehow, I landed 2nd row tickets which turned out to be front row because no one was sitting there so, again, i get to see their every move. Uh, the sound in this theater was incredable too. I met a super nice couple and we had an awesome time dancing in our seats! Ok... once we
got up and let loose!
After that show, I went over to see a new friend's band... Revision. To my utter surprise, they were fantastic. Many hippies jumping around dancing, a great amount of energy and they certainly were having fun on stage. Afterwards was filled with a fun ol' time and some amazing improv music... they are so extremly talented. Won't get into specifics, but met some amazing new people, got to know some good souls a little better and I had so much fun I just couldn't leave the next night. So, I tooled around the next day and happened upon a chili festival in the main area of Ithaca. That was a blast. Visited some stores, enjoyed the sunshine, went to an awesome percussion/instrument/import shop and spent a good hour playing his beautiful selection of drums, took a nap in the sun and just enjoyed the day.
Saw Jerry Douglas that night and he was wonderful. He is so amazingly talent... pays the dobro... the energy level was not nearly what the night before had been, but it was still a wonderful show... yes, again, right up front for the enjoyment. A friend came too
and I ended up, both nights, crashin' on their couch... yep... you all know me and accepting hospitality so, from the most honest place, Mike, thanks a million.
Took off one day late, but not no regrets whatsoever, to NY. The drive was just stunning as it was a beautiful day.
Arrived in time to get checked in and head to the session at O'Neills! Ran into Matt there and many people from before as well. We had a wonderful time and I certainly enjoyed a few Guinness. We hung out at Ashley's place until the wee hours of the morning and, yeah, ended up crashing there too... Ashley, you're a doll and so so thrilled you played for us. You're gonna be famous!
Moved to Ben's (brother) place later that day and headed to Mona's that night for the session. Just wonderful. Hung out with Isaac, Matt and their roommate until the sun came up... certainly enjoyed myself. Got a few hours of sleep and headed back into the city to attempt to find something to wear for the Bat Mitzvah next weekend (headed to Philly as my cousin turns 13... big shindig)...
Had an
enjoyable time going all over the city. I took my car on this day because I just wanted to drive and see more things than I had. Saw Allison for a brief few :) Went through chinatown again and various other parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan. Took it handy that night as I was just beat.
Last morning there I spent a couple hours in the cemetery in Brooklyn... what a beautiful serene place. There was not a soul there... well, maybe a soul, but not a live person! You all know I love cemeteries!
Headed home that afternoon and just crashed for a whole day. Friday and Saturday I shopped with my mother and finally found a gown. It's a beaut. I'll be sure to take picts in Philly, of course.
Yeah... this isn't the most interesting of all my blogs... I'm sorry. Energy is low, but please do enjoy the pictures.
I didn't take many in NY... for some reason.
Yesterday marked the first of four days of sessions... it was an amazing one in Batavia. Such high energy and it lasted 7 hours! Yes! It was wonderful...
Sun's shinin' again... back to
work tomorrow...
smiles to all of you :)
