After a month-long preparation ( and a visa-application wait of 3 months for me ) we’re finally here for 3 months. Sounds like a long time but I know it will go by in a flash. The journey from Bangalore to New York was too long …made more uncomfortable by the 5 hr wait in Mumbai. Stopover in Paris could have been a breather ‘cept that the French do not allow you to disembark !! well to cut a long story short..we arrived at our hotel in white plains ( about 30 miles north of Manhattan) totally exhausted….next morning we set [View Full Entry]

Four elephants fuckingThe huge red statue near Ein Karem, Jerusalem, has always attracted the attention of Jerusalem's locals, who tried to explain the meaning of this strange monument. Hot air architects claimed that when looking at the statue from a certain angle, it exactly reflects the spectacular view of Jerusalem Mountains behind it; most of the natives, however, claimed that the anonymous artist merely tried to immitate four elephants fucking. Anyway, I was happy to see a mini-model of the statue near Brooklin Bridge, in Manhattan (see pic below). Finally I found out something [View Full Entry]

It's hard to believe that it's been an entire year since I sat down to write a blog but it's been that long since we've been to Israel. Last year, five intrepid travelers from Community Synagogue journeyed to Israel for an amazing 10 days. This year, the number swelled to 36! Our group has participants from age 3 to 73 and everyone in between. There are 12 kids under age 14 so we are in for quite an adventure. Our trip will take us to the following places in Israel (see if you can find them on the map): Tel Aviv, [View Full Entry]

We just purchased my plane tickets for Japan. I'm leaving from JFK (don't even get me started on what time I'll have to be at the airport) on August 22nd and through weird time warps (and a gazillion hour stop in Detroit) I'll arrive in Osaka at 18.15. I think the KG people will come and pick me up around 20.00 or sometime thereafter. Hopefully there will be other students en route to Osaka from Detroit, else that's going to be a very long, dull wait. Good thing there's WiFi in all terminals, or so their website says. I'm coming home [View Full Entry]
