OK, so it's been a while since I've written a blog and I've missed out few blog worthy trips in the last 8months or so to various places including Vancouver/Whistler for my first time skiing and lots of trips to France including another skiing trip and a brilliant road trip around the southwest but never mind. Here begins a quick trip to Honduras stopping off in Manhattan, New York for a couple of days on the way out. Day 1 of this 3.5week jaunt saw myself and Laura up and about at stupid o'clock on my birthday to catch a ridiculously [View Full Entry]

New York. The big apple. Well what isn't big in this place? Big buildings, big portions of food and a great big park in the middle. Stayed in downtown Manhattan in Gary's gorgeous apartment (complete with pool table and roof terrace) right in the middle of the financial district, just a block away from the world trade centre site. (Thanks again Gary!) Arrived in NYC and immediately met up with Linda, Phil and Freddie at Grand Central station and headed straight into SoHo for food and drinks. Spent most of the next day strolling about town in the blazing heat and [View Full Entry]

Playing beer pong with my program director
I’ve been hyping up my roster in Texas on this blog for the past few entries. I’m going to have a sick 5-man rotation. I’m going to fucking cruise through the summer. I’m going to murder the Texas league. Problem was, I only had 5 days. With a few of the kids in my program, I finished 60+ beers, a box of wine and some vodka in epic fashion after the poster presentation. I once again ruled in beer pong. But this time I was partnered with my program director. My fucking program director. She’s got 3 kids, is at least [View Full Entry]

The bright lights of NYC

Woke up early, around half seven, having collapsed the previous night into a significantly more comfortable hostel bed than I'd endured for the last two months. Showered and went down to wait to see what breakfast would be like. I wasn't to be disappointed - large bagels, muffins, apples and coffee meant I could stock up well for the mornings excursions. I researched a few things online, and decided that I'd first head to the free Sony Technology Wonder Lab, which turned out to be largely closed for refurbishment - bar one floor containing several playstation 3's and massive (60”?) pl [View Full Entry]

Today we saw Battles, Black Dice and Gang Gang Dance perform a free gig at the SummerStage in Central Park. We met up with Kelly (one of the girls we met at the Virgin Mobile Festival) and a friend of hers. After the gig we had dinner at a diner on Madison Avenue. I felt a little bit like Alice in Wonderland because this restaurant was crammed full of teeny tiny tables! [View Full Entry]

1. New York Hej alle sammen! Nu skal jeg for første gang forsøge mig med en blog, så I må bære over med mig vis det ikke ser helt perfekt ud. For those of you who don’t read Danish. To bad! I’m writing this in Danish and that’s just how it’s going to be. But you can still take a look at the pictures… Som I alle nok er klar over på nuværende tidspunkt er Eivind og jeg taget på udveksling til USA. Vi valgte at flyve til New York og tage et par dage der, inden vi fløj videre til [View Full Entry]

From Philly we drove to Ramsey, New Jersey to meet up with our friend from San Francisco, Matt Shiel. He showed us around the area and took us hiking in New York (only about 10 miles from his parents house). Matt also turned out to be a great resource for our trip to New York City because he grew up in the area. We got on the train (with Matt's help) and wandered into NYC with out a clue where we were going to stay for the night. As it turns out, it is hard to find an inexpensive youth hostel [View Full Entry]

The Staten Island Ferry
The Staten Island Ferry
Cruising by Lady Liberty on its way to Staten Island from Lower Manhattan
By Armando S. Sarlat "We'll have Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island too. It's lovely going through the zoo." Manhattan Staten Island, also known as Richmond County, is one of New York City's five boroughs. The other four are Manhattan, Queens, Bronx and Brooklyn. It is the southernmost borough, just a 25-minute ride from lower Manhattan on the famous Staten Island Ferry. Many "Islanders", folks from other boroughs, and tourists alike enjoy the sea breezes of a round trip ferry ride through New York Harbor. It's great for picturesque views of Manhattan's skyline, and a close up [View Full Entry]
