We arrived in New York, and for the first time this trip we were jet lagged. Our trip from Istanbul via London had wiped 7 hours off our watches, but not our body clocks. When we arrived at our apartment it was 7:00 PM local time (you do the maths...). When we got up to our apartment the kids collapsed on the beds, Albert went to sleep still wearing his backpack ! Our apartment is on the Upper West Side Manhattan, only a short walk to Central Park. Most apartments in Manhattan are small. We didn't want to upset the [View Full Entry]

When I heard that my mate Rachel was going to be in New York during the US Open, the decision to travel over to meet her for a 4 day weekend was a no-brainer. It was fabulous to see her after 15 months, and the trip was worth it for that alone, but NY NY had so much more to offer. Day 1 we headed to the Open at Flushing Meadows- seeing the 'Bryans' win the men’s doubles, as well as both the women's semi finals (Serena/Safina and Jelena/Elena - no wonder they use the latter's last names!). We also saw [View Full Entry]

Waiting
Waiting
Waiting for the plane to take us to the US. Travelling also includes a lot of waiting. Here we use the time to take a nap on mummy.
Seeing New York and Washington DC Earlier this year we went to the United States with mum and dad. Yes, you guessed right, mum and dad still refuse to let us travel on our own. We think we should be allowed to travel by ourselves soon. We are big toys now. It is embarrassing for us to always have the old folks with us whenever we travel. But to be honest there is one tiny advantage to it too - they pay for everything! When we learnt that we were going to the States we got so excited. We have heard [View Full Entry]

An American Road Trip. Having spent eight months travelling around the world I come to the final leg of my journey, joined by my son’s Oliver and Josh. As part of my adventure, I arranged for my son’s to fly and meet me at JFK Airport New York. My flights from Nassau, Bahamas transferring via Miami to New York was running about an hour late, but thankfully I made it across JFK to meet the boy’s flight in the arrivals lounge, where I enjoy a long awaited hug. Soon after, we were on a shuttle bus heading to New York City [View Full Entry]

Wow. Sleeping on tile without a pillow or blanket really sucks. I check in to TAM around 6am, and quickly realize I’m going to need to know more Portuguese if I want to get around. Go through security and make my way to the gate. I run into Hsaio and same others in the calls and we board the plane around 8:30am. I sat next next to a nice man from Paraguay, he introduced me to the amazing South American drink called Guarana, made from a fruit that is found in the amazonias (the jungle). I equate it to Brazillian ginger [View Full Entry]

I'm taking my brother in law & his Fiance' to NYC on Saturday. Visit the American Museum of Natural History and probably some shopping. I'm looking forward to seeing the Hayden Planetarium. Over the past few years, I've been very interested in Astronomy and owe it to myself. I haven't been there since I was small. For those of you in town, keep an eye out for Jupiter in the Southern sky. Even in the light polluted sky, you can't miss it. Anyhow, regarding NYC, here's my latest tip. http://www.ottopizzeria.com/ Otto's is not your local pizza joint! Its really a great [View Full Entry]

After breakfast I did some sit-ups(100) and pushups(100) and got a shower. I was out the door by 10am. I started through Central Park, the North end. It is beautiful! Now what expected at all in a really big city. The maps were easy to navigate and I made me way South to the Conservatory Garden. I got some great pics. Beautiful flowers, fountains, and butterflies. Also, the weather was great, I think it got into the 90s, low humidity. I went South further to the Resevoir and got some great pics of the NY skyline and a turtle. Saw ~20 [View Full Entry]

New York In a New York MinuteDawn had to go to New York to pick up her kids who were returning from Greece after staying with their father for the summer. She decided to make a little trip out of it and made reservations for two days before they arrived to spend a little time sightseeing and asked if I wanted to go as well. I thought, “What could we do in just two days?” But we always manage to have a spectacular time wherever we go so I started looking for cheap airfares on Priceline and Expedia. Dawn booked the [View Full Entry]
