Hey y'all!! I made it to the big apple on Monday, though packing lasted well into the night. By the way mum, it was a max of 32kg per case, not overall, so I could have brought a whole other bag of junk. Damn it... After a fairly uneventful flight in my "window seat" which didn't have a window (the guy in front did, so I tried leaning forward and peering out of his only to have my face whacked as he gently reclined his chair), I made it into Newark, got through customs and immigration quickly and without fuss. Until [View Full Entry]

Jon and me went up to NYC for a 5 days to check out the big apple. It was an amazing city, nothing like i had ever seen before. We stayed in Manahattan a couple blocks from time square which turned out to be a great location, did not have to travel much to get to the sites. We went to a Yankees game while there which was good. About 3 months earlier we bought tickets to the US open that was in NYC while we were there, we had tickets to the finals. And it turned out to be the [View Full Entry]

Hehe! The excitement is growing. Graham and I have been doing our last minute New York things before our big departure. I guess it hasn't been very real up until this point -- but we've been planning this trip for what, a year and a half now. Its been such a big part of our lives that I guess I never thought of it as this big event. But now its almost here and there are like a million things to do because we only have 5 more days in the City. We've been hanging out with our friends a lot, [View Full Entry]

Guys! I love New York!! have spent a week here since camp finished and its so cool! been doing all the touristy stuff - statue of liberty, ground zero and the empire state building - the view was amazing! the people here are really cool as well - friendly and helpful. its definitely good to have an accent in america!! have mastered the subway - its not really that hard! and its funny to watch the locals get worried when they tell you that you're on the train heading to Queens instead of the one heading to '79th st b/w amsterdam [View Full Entry]

Our first day in New York we went on a bit of a shopping spree as Dave wanted to take advantage of the cheaper prices in the US compared with 'Rip Off Britain'. He was beginning to worry that one back pack and a couple of shipped boxes wouldn't quite be enough for a couple of years in England. On loading ourselves up with a sufficient amount of clothes and a new laptop we decided the next day that we had time for a bit of sight-seeing. We headed first to Wall Street and marvelled at the huge number of armed [View Full Entry]
