Guys! I love New York!! have spent a week here since camp finished and its so cool! been doing all the touristy stuff - statue of liberty, ground zero and the empire state building - the view was amazing! the people here are really cool as well - friendly and helpful. its definitely good to have an accent in america!! have mastered the subway - its not really that hard! and its funny to watch the locals get worried when they tell you that you're on the train heading to Queens instead of the one heading to '79th st b/w amsterdam [View Full Entry]

Our first day in New York we went on a bit of a shopping spree as Dave wanted to take advantage of the cheaper prices in the US compared with 'Rip Off Britain'. He was beginning to worry that one back pack and a couple of shipped boxes wouldn't quite be enough for a couple of years in England. On loading ourselves up with a sufficient amount of clothes and a new laptop we decided the next day that we had time for a bit of sight-seeing. We headed first to Wall Street and marvelled at the huge number of armed [View Full Entry]

I went to see the N.Y Liberty play @ madison square garden, I went up the empire state @ night, I went to the US open for 2 days, caught a ferry to Staten Is past the statue of liberty & checked out times square by day & night. I had fun in New york and Brides's camp mates where pretty cool to hang [View Full Entry]

Its not like Starbucks needs help promoting their image, but nevertheless the person in this photo has placed a green tea frappuccino in the dog's mouth for a photo on her cellphone.
NYC is a place that may test the boundaries for some people on what is normal. Every day I saw some crazy sights and there was a lot to inspire someone with new ideas and passion. Here are few last photos before I left for Boston. [View Full Entry]

So after a greuling 12 hour overnight, freezing cold bus ride we made it to New York City!!! The city was amazing, not everything we expected it to be but it was still a good 2 weeks we spent there. We did all the touristy things such as Staten Island ferry so we could see the statue of liberty. I think we did this on the worst possible day as it was so smoggy!!! we caught the ferry on a sunday so you wouldn't expect there to be so much smog but unfortunately there was :( We also had a look [View Full Entry]

New York Manhattan is a city that at first take I did not like. But after I gave it another week I found that there were many things to like and so many different sides to the city that I had to reconsider what made a good metropolis. To its credit it really does buzz off its own energy. This is a city for people with energy and ideas. Every day I have seen someone creating a new crazy new idea or product. This place is ruthless to those that try, but many persist and some have made their way. For [View Full Entry]

On arriving in NYC I decided to rough it and stay at one of the Manhattan hostels. Where ever I go I am trying to find accommodation that is relatively close to the action. With no where to relax in the dorm, I jumped on the train and headed to Time Square. My first few moments in the square were rather disappointing. This part of the city is nothing like I expected and its not a great place to visit, except if you escape off the side streets into a thearte or bar. In all the cities I have travelled I [View Full Entry]

Hello again, As we near the end of our stay in Manhattan my access to internet may be limited so it's possible this will be my last entry until we get home. Our day yesterday was a full one and with the aid of ibuprofin and acetaminophen we made it through ok. Our meeting with Henry and Lynn and subsequent tour of Governor's Island was delightful. I discovered another part of this blog called galleries, so I put some of the pictures from this tour on it. We got back to Manhattan around 12:30 and got some lunch, then some italian [View Full Entry]

Hi Folks, This will have to be a short entry since now I am the sick one who is dragging around. We did hear from Henry and Lynn this morning and we are going to meet them tomorrow for a Governor's Island tour. We just got back, today, from Liberty and Ellis Islands and are waiting for a boyhood friend to meet us for dinner. Yesterday we did our run out to Queens where we started the day with treats from the Lemon Ice King of Corona. Then we walked through Flushing Meadows-Corona Park to Mt Hebron Cemetery where we looked [View Full Entry]

This is a bit belated. These are some pictures from a trip to New York I went on. We went to Times Square, saw Halle Berry and did copious amounts of shopping on Lexington Avenue. I bought lots of nice.cheap things. Went went uptown, downtown, westside and eastside. NYC is very easy to get around and you can buy a metro day pass for about $7 and take as many subway rides as you like. Subway rides get pretty interesting when you are right downtown....we went to Battery Park, but i didn't want to go and see Ground Zero - bit [View Full Entry]
