NYC- what's with all the rain?

Seeing as we have so much time in New York, we just decided to spend the day walking around and taking in a few of the sights if we happened upon any of them.
The day was spoilt a bit by the incessant rain and the fact that we only had one umbrella but all the same, the first day in New York was still nice.
We had lunch at a local place near our hotel on Broadway and then walked a short way further before deciding to get a week ticket for the local transport. Manhattan is a really big place, much bigger than we had imagined it would be so we would probably have to get the bus or the tube somewhere almost everyday. We decided on the bus that first day seeing as we had time to spare and wanted to just take in the streets of New York. You get to see a lot more travelling by bus than by the tube!
We got off at Times Square and headed straight for the Easy Internet Cafe to go on the internet and check our e-mails and the travelblog. Those Easy cafes are not as easy as they sound! almost none of the computers work and the ones that are turned on often either don't have a mouse, a keyboard or both! It was a bloody nightmare just finding one that had all the requirements. Eventually we got to one though so we logged on and just took care of the essentials before heading out again.
We walked around for a bit longer and then got fed up with the rain so went into Starbucks for a drink. We ended up sitting out the worst of the rain there before deciding to go back to the hostel again.
We went out for pizza for dinner, again at a local place quite near the hotel. I think thats the good thing about staying in Manhatten near Broadway, there is always somewhere to get something to eat.
