The New York leg of our trip got off to a rocky start. We waited in the airport for two hours for our college friend to pick us up, but she never showed. We still haven't heard from her, so we're not sure what happened there. We finally decided to reserve a hostel and found a nice, clean, boutique hostel off Broadway.
After we got settled we figured, hey we're on Broadway, let's see a show. So we asked the front desk where to go. Anne Hatheway was performing in Shakespeare in the Park in a tiny outdoor theater. We stood in standby for half an hour, in the rain, but finally got tickets. We were actually grateful for the rain at this point because the line is normally five times as long as it was last night and we were wearing raincoats. We spent another half hour sitting in the rain as the play kept getting delayed, until we finally decided to wait for the play to start where it was dry. No sooner had we left, did we hear cheers break out across the theater and we heard Anne's voice announce the play was cancelled! There were so
many people in the way, we couldn't even watch her cancel the play. Not three minutes after everyone left, the rain stopped. Oh well, at least we got to test our raingear :)
Today went much better. We started off with a trip to Rockefeller Plaza, where we saw Anne Curry and Matt Lauer. We also saw ourselves on the screen! Did anyone else see us? Monday, June 22, around 9AM, behind the neon pink 'E' in a sign some lady was holding. I also got a picture with Lenny, who has been in the Today Show audience every morning for 17 years.
Next, we visited the Natural History Museum. We saw an amazing replica of a blue whale, the largest animal ever, even bigger than dinosaurs. We also saw dinosaur bones, a meteorite the size of a car, and the largest blue star saphire in the world, around 600 carats. We'll update photos soon. Miss you all. We'll write again from Iceland.

We were just talking about you less than an hour ago. I thought you were spending a few days in NY and I was right! Too bad about your friend and the play. This is just the beginning, so I hope you have a better trip to Iceland.
Keep on writing!
Glad that you left the Rocky Road behind and got to enjoy the sights and sounds of New York. Are you doing any shopping there? What kind of eateries have you visited?
Have you been or plan to go by Grenich Village? Just think that when I get to New York, NY ... that is where I'd like to go.

Glad you went with the hotel. Too bad the beginning of your trip was annoying. It sounds like you were able to salvage the day though. Hope everything else goes well. Godspeed.
I can't imagine how excited you must be to finally be living your dream! Iceland has to be cooler than Jacksonville! L mean literally. I think it was around 100 lately. Carlie and Ray just missed you. They were there at Scott's Mon. (I think), and got home today.
