New York, New York!!!!

First stop, NEW YORK!

DAY 1

Arrived at JFK at 7pm Monday the 1st June! Had been travelling for like the whole day 7 hour flight where Rhona & I couldnt even sit together we were put different sides of the plane! I slept most of the journey in between bout 10 trips to the toilet lol. You know me now haha! Anyways arrived and got our bags and next thing i hear my name calle dout in the airport and thought shit what have i done :-O....Turns out our tent missed the flight we laughed so much we didnt even care really!

Got on the subway and got to times square 44th street....where we had to walk 3 blocks with our REALLY heavy backpacks, Niamh u really should have halfed my stuff when u packed it lol!!! Got to our hostel which was really clean, I was suprised..the bathroom was new and clean and u could almost eat ur dinner of the floor!! we changed our clothes and headed out for a wonder! Went to times square and it was all lit up and looked really cool and HUGE may I add! Got stopped by 2 american guys who asked about 50 questions about where we were going and if we wanted to join them! Ah no thanks they were pure dodgy, we gave them fake names and everything haha and said we dont drink they took out pens and paper and gave us there numbers... sammy and sonny, oh yea very likly that that was there real names! some weirdos around new york.....We wondered for an hour and then looked for a bar and could only find an irish one so we said we'd go in for one! Met some guys from san diego, they were in there 40's and they were teachers on a trip to new york with there class- hmmm and they were out drinkin lol. They were nice neway and gave us lots of places to go in san diego and advise for NY too!

DAY 2

Got up really early and walked to times square we must have seen 1 million yellow cabs on our way and we just stared up at the buildings! The people were not friendly AT ALL and the weather wasnt great either considerin it was 26degrees at home!!! But we thought hey were in new york lets not be spoilt brats and try and enjoy ourselves! We went and found rockefeller centre and the empire state building our necks were gettin sore from looking up so much lol. We paid $30 and we gor sunrise/sunset ticket to go up rockefeller centre and see the whole of manhattan! So we decided we'd do one now and one at tonight so 87 floors later we were on top and it was AMAZING! The views were just so good.... And it was so cool to see the whole of new york from this building and we could see the empire state building too! we took a million pics and then headed down again! So we wondered around for few hours went up fifth avenue where all the really expensive shops are we walked about 20 blocks!!!! we then went on the subway at grand ccentral station(meant to be cool but it was soooo dirty) not like the tube in london... We got back to the hostel and we were chatting to tabby and luu, two asian girls that were staying with us, they are reallly nice and brought us to soho on the subway about 6/7 stops couldnt find any bars tho it was pure empty... again we found one irish one with a guy from dublin workin there he seemed ok ! Then we went to another bar on 10th avenue and 43rd street and drank loads of beer(eeeewwww i dont even drink beer) but we got a free pitcher so why not lol...

DAY 3

Today we went on the subway to see brooklyn bridge, manhattan bridge and chinatown. We got to brooklyn bridge and walked the whole way across it with really sore feet and it was kinda hot out, we got to the other side which was "brooklyn" and then north of that was queens... we walked around lookin at our map for another subway station with the green line to get back to the other side of the bridge cause it took 1/2 hour to cross it and we were wrecked!!!! It took us like an hour to find one since people are so unhelpful and look at you as if u have a million heads when u ask for directions!we got lost and kicked and screamed for a little bit lol. Eventually We were on the subway and wanted to go to chinatown which meant gettin off at a transfer station and gettin on a different line so at chambers i siad oh this is us and jumped up and ran off the train, I looked behind me and rhona was stuck in the train and the doors were closed on her. She had her hand up against the door and i was laughin thinkin oh my god, hadnt a clue where i was and she was still on the train off it went leavin me behind! CRAP! I sat for a min and taut ok well she'll get off at the next staion and get the on the opposite side of platform and get on next train back...but then i thought fuck it ill just get on the next train and get off at the next station and she'll be there! (phones dont work under ground) Got there and she wasnt there, so went up out of the subway at canal st and tried to ring her it wouldnt go through so i waited, she txt saying she was on some street and the sw exit so i went to find her!STRESS!!!! We walked to chinatown and looked through the stuff along the way dirt cheap! We got something to eat after searching for a proper chinese, not one with pigs hanging in the window YUCK!!! It lashed rain and we were walkin in t-shirts and flipflops and got soaked... New York SUCKS!

DAY 4-

By now we know we dont like new york, it was dirty wet and cold we booked our flights for miamii for tomorrow woo hoo!!! We thought we may as well go and see central park while we are here lol. We went down and we also shopped, we bought new shoes lol. They were like $15.00 so why not haha! Went into flagstore disney..it was really cool....then we went to Central Park and looked around had an oreo ice-cream YUMMY!!! We then had a laugh at some sqkirrels playing in the park and we threw in some ice-cream sooo cute they picked it up and were chewing it!!!! Got back to the hostel and we got ready and went out with two ozzies, matt & janelle who were travelling solo! We went and played beer pong up on 83rd street or something good bit on subway we had so much fun...and we lost terribly lol. we got to drink lots and lots of beer & cider for me! we headed back on the subway to go to east village(very long way on the subway)..and meet luu and tabby and go to the ozzy bar, $20.00 for 2 hours and u can drink as much as u like we were so drunk by the time we got there we barely drank much!! Had a good night and that was the end to new york!

Overall we didnt really enjoy new york, we thought it was cool but not a place for backpackers unless ur a rich backpacker! :-)
