After crazy delays on the train we arrived in New York in the wee hours of the 28th. Had a great few days seeing New York not in the freezing cold! Our first morning back we had a great time getting rid of the promotional wine at Kims work then having a sozzled walk through Manhatten before going to the Museum of Moving Picture in Queens, which was pretty cool and you could make a flicker book of yourself!
Christmas in New York is busy busy busy. Could barely move when we went to see the ice skating, Times Square and the Rockefeller Christmas Tree in Midtown on a Saturday but was definately worth it just to experience the madness. We decided however that Times Square was just a bit too mad for New Year so John, Kim and I and 6 others went for dinner to a wee Thai cafe and then to a house party on the Lower East side which was ace. Particulary getting to try out the fire escape! (kidding...)
Had another day out in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and went to the Brooklyn Museum where they have a massive collection of Egyptian Art. Some of it
was over 4000 years old and really amazing. Bonus: the Brooklyn Museum has a "suggested donation" of $24 per person....
We checked out the inside of the Guggenheim on New Years Eve (unfortunately there is no "suggested" donation on $24 there, but a mandatory one) which really is a cool building, built like a helter skelter with the art spiralling down. Went to the Metropolitan too which was great and had a fashion exhibit and loads more Egyptian Art (some of it went a bit far in my opinion - they have literally taken part of a pyramid!)
Went to a Comedy Show on New Years day at Ha! comedy club which was pretty funny. Felt sorry for the compere who was not so funny. Went to get "the best brioche in New York" which was the worst brioche I have ever tasted. BUT THEN: had the best curry ever ever ever at Spice Grove! Go there!
Said goodbye to Kim in the wee hours of 3rd January for 8 months :( bye! xxxxxx
New Year!Family guy and drums: awesome apparently!
