In an upward turn of events, I have made an important discovery. Yesterday I met a few more amazing people, totally randomly, and while I was extremely unsure of the purpose of my travels. Watching the news, one mostly hears about tragedies and upset. Yesterday I went to Trader Joes to buy some Pita Chips, the cinnamon kind, to share with the couchsurfing community who gather at Revival in the East Village on Thursday nights. While in line I met Tedevan, a healer carrying a huge sign advertising what he does. I felt like I needed to talk to him, so we agreed that for the price of his groceries, (a bag of organic oranges and a protein bar) he would heal me. The healing part I felt was a little contrived, but perhaps (likely) I'm not that in-tune with my own energies. However, meeting this guy and his friend Stephan and other friends, was immensely helpful. Random, meant to be, and I was just SO happy to have met them all. Union Square in NY is so appropriately named, as it's where people unite. All kinds of people come together to make music, sit, talk, watch other crazies like Tedevan, poke fun at preachers, rest, beg, make art (this guy painted a sidewalk mural and told me he just painted what he felt, which apparently involves aliens, patterns and money), sell things, meet people, on and on. I found out that Stephan and Tedevan were couchsurfers so I brought them to the gathering, where it seemed that they weren't interested in making it their life like some do, but it's good that they're on it and met some of the NY clan which has been so kind and generous to me. To get back to the reason I'm even writing this, meeting great people is so motivational. I'm an optimist and the people I meet every day through couchsurfing and anywhere else... through this trip basically, are reasons enough to be happy and optimistic for the future. Honestly, before I left it was similar, everyone I meet I tell about my former job and how the people there and their acceptance of my off-the-wall-ness encouraged me to work harder and really do the best I could at work (maybe some of you didn't know that I've never kept a "real" job for more than 5 weeks before getting fired. A year and months is an achievement, and you folks are why that was possible. The fact that I was able to meet so many people I truly enjoy *at work* makes you all that much more amazing.
This is me saying THANK YOU.
All of you. Honestly.
PS Those I've met on the road, stayed with, traveled with, hung out with, talked to, anything.... you've all been incredible. Know what that means? So great no one believes me! And to the amazing street rapper Marvalous... You live up to your name for sure.... I'm amazed
