An entry from Beth
I decided to start a blog more as a journal and a way to keep track of my travels through Vietnam. While it is a short trip I hope to maintain this for myself on future journeys I may take...
Why Vietnam? There has been a great deal of positive "stuff" I have heard about the country and a whole lot of history that I just feel a draw there. Back in December, my friend Jon mentioned he would be in SE Asia around the same time I wanted to go to Vietnam. Rachael & I had discussed taking a trip like this together, but after some time the idea never came to fruition. Then about 3 weeks ago, Jon got back in touch and I decided last minute that I would go to meet up with him regardless. I booked a flight! After talking with Rach, she decided to see if she could get on the same flights and voila, the trip was back on. However, some sad news...unfortunately, Jon has to stay back home for some time and will no longer be joining us, but Rachael and I are still excited and can't
beth & rach...to the mediterranean sea of monte-carlo...
wait to get on the road (or in the air) this Thursday!!
Separately, if you know me or someone in my family, you would know that we can take what's been called, an "excessive" amount of photos. Especially now with the digital format, the slope of pictures taken in conjunction with years gone by is an extremely steep incline. But you all know that if you are in the pictures yourselves, you LOVE it. So, I decided to create a contest for friends and family to guess just how many pictures I will take on my trip. It's interesting to see where some people are coming in. The low of 260 and the high of 2,700, in my eyes are way off...if I were to guess (and maybe I should have provided a benchmark, such that I took roughly 800 pictures in 10 days in Israel) I would say 1,098. Although, I do have a feeling I will come in under that. But who knows...
Seriously, I am SOO excited. Rachael and my visas arrived last week...we've been vaccinated, gotten our meds, canned tuna and trail mix, etc...I started packing last week so I am pretty much done
:)
Rachael & I...and on to more international waters like the south china sea & the gulf of tonkin

Send Private MessageI'm so glad to see this trip is happening!! I can feel the anticipation in the air from Park City ha ha ha. Can't wait to see how it all unfolds. My travel adice...read Lonely Planet to get the lay of the land but talk to people to see whats the best stuff to do and no need to stay in places they recommend...normally they raise the prices and stop caring as much once they get written up and everyone flocks to their inns. Try lots of food and the rice whiskey! Also meet tons of international travelers and check out the markets...they are so cool. lots of love and best wishes,
Schwamee
Daddy and I wish you and Rachel the time of your lives. I am so glad you have each other as traveling companions. Enjoy everything!
You and Beth are in the air, I just landed in Fort Lauderdale, and my luggage is lost, just waiting for the next flight from Philly, hoping my bag will be on it. While I'm sitting here, I just looked at Allison's lastest batch of photos and I'm picturing you and Beth on your adventure. Go safely, have fun, and enjoy:) Lots and lots and lots and lots of love, xox
