This weekend was one of the best and worst weekends of my life. It was the best weekend because I got to see relatives that I love but don't see nearly enough. I consider it the worst because obviously, I buried my grandmother. I was not ready to let her to go yet (and I told her that this summer), but she was definitely ready to take her leave (as she told
me this summer). She was tired and in pain, and as a devout Christian, she had no fear of the afterlife. On Saturday we attended her viewing in the afternoon and evening. Sunday was her funeral and burial. There were lots of tears shed on those days, but there was also a lot of joy.
As I said earlier, I rented a house with my brother on Dune Road in Westhampton Beach. It had gorgeous views of the bay for quiet reflection and it was a short walk across the street to the ocean. I am very pleased with where we stayed. Since this is the second time I've rented from this company and been satisfied, I'll share my source. We used
www.weber-realestate.com. Their off season rates are
quite reasonable and twice I've found them to be cheaper than area hotels.
Sunday morning before the funeral my cousins and their children came over for breakfast and then we all went across the street to the beach. The fall weather was wonderful. It was perfect for building sandcastles and chasing the waves with our bare feet. I don't remember having as much fun with my relatives as I did that Sunday morning, it's just bittersweet thinking about the occasion that brought us together.

Send Private MessageHi I am a fellow Diser who followed over to your blog. Your post of your stay in West Hamptons was similar to what we just experienced burying my small niece who died suddenly. It was a bittersweet occasion and we too stayed on Virginia Beach with family that we dont see often enough. Beautiful family. I have four myself and know the joys and the complexity of traveling with such a bunch. Praying for you this Holiday it is so hard to loose a loved one.
Thank you for your kind words!
