Skylar around the USA

Julie and I met in March of 2008 in the Cape Town neighborhood of Observatory in the Vivant Student Lodge. We bonded quickly through the late arrival of my motorcycle being shipped from America as Julie would become just as frustrated as I was when week after week it wouldn't show. We remained good friends after I continued on to Tanzania that May with Skylar and she completed her internship with a local NGO. After I spent the summer in Europe we met in Paris in September upon her return to France from Cape Town and spent a weekend enjoying the city and staying with Anthony.
After I came home and faced with a prospect of work and questioning again my purpose in continuing to travel alone, I proposed the idea to Julie of a trip together. She was excited but unsure of being able to save enough money and left it as a good possibility to discuss the next spring. In May, I found a cheap ticket to England where Julie was working in the schools and community teaching French at which point the idea started to become a reality. After returning reluctantly to work in Santa Fe we planned to meet again in the South of France in late June where Julie had been offered a beautiful house by some of her older students in Northampton. Breil Sur Roya was a wonderful transition for me from work back to a more traveling, laid back spirit and brought Julie and I much closer as well.
Which brings us to Santa Fe! After some repairs following Africa, Skylar is itching to escape the garage again for a 3 and a half month tour of the USA and a few highlights of Canada.


Et non, je ne vous ai pas oublié, ceux pour qui l'anglais n'est pas leur tasse de thé!
Donc voila, on a pensé avec Tim que ca pourrait être sympa de créer un blog pour en rassurer certains qui se reconnaîtront certainement mais sutout pour partager ces 4 mois avec vous, à travers des photos, des vidéos ou des histoires!
L'idée d'un trip en moto à travers les Etats Unis est partie de Tim.
Tim et moi nous sommes rencontrés en Afrique du Sud où je faisais mon stage de fin d'études dans une ONG, alors que lui attendait désespérement de recevoir sa moto des Etats Unis pour commencer sa traversée de l'Afrique. J'ai tout de suite adoré son idée de voyager a travers le monde en moto et ai été tres vite fascinée par toutes les histoires de ces précédents voyages!!
Du coup, je suis devenue aussi impatiente que lui que sa moto arrive enfin!!!!!!
Trois mois plus tard j'ai eu droit à mon tour de moto à travers Le Cap entre océans et montagnes!
Ca m'a tellement plû qu'il ma proposé de le joindre pour le prochain trip qu'il avait en tête à travers les Etats unis.
Donc nous voilà, après un mois dans le Sud de la France, on a quitté Breil le 23 juillet et sommes arrivés au Nouveau Mexique le 24. On a passé cette semaine chez la maman de Tim à Santa Fe, on en a profité pour tester le materiel de camping et préparer la moto.
Et voila, demain, le 1er Août comme prévu, on prend la route....
