As we sit here, in our old house with the chaos of packing all around us, we are also setting up our itinerary. Herb is always organized and he likes to know where we are going and when and he carefully builds a binder with all the various reservation confirmations and addresses to enter into the GPS. It's also a good way to keep our eye on the prize. So far, we are leaving here May 4, stopping in Amarillo overnight then spending a week in Oklahoma City.. Then we will head on to Branson, MO for a few days. We haven't yet looked at the shows that are available, but we do know we are going to go to Carbondale, IL, so Herb can look at the college campus, Southern Illinois University, Extension Program that ... read more

Timeline is firming up. The furniture we are keeping will be stored in a Pod until we get tired of traveling. The rest will be sold, sold with the house, given to family or Goodwill. The Pod will be delivered April 13th, loaded April 14. There will be some cleaning of the house, etc. between the 14th and the 19th when we close. The new buyers, JR and Emily Shaw are a delightful couple and we really hit it off. We are going to have a celebratory dinner with them at Ruth's Chris the 19th. We have a space in an RV park in the area starting the 14th, and Herb will have some rehab on his foot until May 2. After that we are "Free to move about the country"! I am a little daunted ... read more

I have started/continued to get my TravelBlog (thank you, Hilde, so much for giving me the site) and have added a few email addresses. Obviously, it won't really start until we hit the road sometime in May. But the site seems to have some amazing flexibility and I will periodically add stuff.... read more

29 March 17:25 MDT I had forgotten how hectic things are here. Sorry for the delay in finishing this blog; thank you for all of your interest. Now for the finale. The ride back to Jerusalem was entirely uneventful. Once back, I confirmed my airport transportation and walked to the city of David. The tour I paid for was in Hebrew, but it was my only opportunity to see it. I got a little confused and waited a while outside the archeologal park. I met two Russians, Sergei and Gregori, who were similarly lost. Eventually, I found the enterance I was supposed to be at in a nick of time. The woman at the ticket booth said "you know this tour is in Hebrew" " yes, but it is my only chance to see it" " ... read more

Well, I will keep this short because there won't be enough hours in this day. Errands to run and a constant list going through my head. "Did I write this item on the packing list...I don't think so...I better remember it..and so on." We are very excited to be headed to see family and see some GREEN country, maybe even rain. Only .2 of an inch, in this area, since the first of the year. First downpour, and I'm headed out into it! Well, enough daydreaming, time to get to work.... read more

I just wanted to add something and kind of get used to this whole thing before I go. I am sooo excited that I sometimes think that this trip I am taking is going to be just another one of those that I take to California for a few weeks. I guess it still hasn't really sunk in yet. It has it moments too- I will feel almost overwhellmed and then I won't feel like I am going at all. Well the fact is that I am jubuliant about this whole thing and I am almost ready to go right this minute... Well, almost. I'm in my pajamas! Well I do hope that you enjoy my entries when I write them because you cared enough to read this. :)... read more
