Today the girls had softball, nature, swimming and soccer and the day seemed to go by so fast. In nature today they worked with the sun making an astrolabe, and bracelets that had beads that changed color in the sun, they seemed to have fun! Tonight we had bunk night which is when Amberlynn and I plan a night for the bunk, we had a game night and the girls seemed to have a blast and but did get really loud. Wes, Joe, Jessica and I had the day off so we all arrived in Montreal today we decided to park in a parking garage and walk the town. We went to Tim Mortons for breakfast which is like Starbucks of Canada. We then found old Montreal which was beautiful and replicated France in the 1600’s. We also stopped by the Cathedral (Notre Dome) which was absolutely breathtaking and I could of spent hours there! The girls had tennis for the first activity so I was able to talk with the other counselors about our day off…we are thinking Montreal! Today is the first time we were able to use “lazy Monday” for today. The Reveille woke us up at 7:45 instead of the regular 7:15 (but it did go off 10 min late which was nice!) Breakfast was fast because Monday is the big clean up day and we get graded for the possibility for the golden toilet brush!!! So we spent an hour cleaning and scouring our cabin!!! This morning I was able to go to church with a couple of people. It was in Bradford NH about 30 min away, Our Lady of Perpetual Help. When I got back it was free swim and we all hung out on the front lawn because it was a little cold to swim. We then had lunch and then swimming, which I was helping out in the lake and it was bitterly cold!!! I do not think it will get over 85 degrees out here!!!! This is the first chance I've had to blog since being at Deanna's. So, Ill try to keep it brief. Thursday, we left Deanna's in Fairfax and headed north toward Dulles Airport, then west to I-81. Not the straightest route, but we decided to go that way in order to pass through West Virginia and Maryland on the way to Pennsylvania, giving Ethan 3 new states to add to his list of states he has visited. Happy Birthday America!!! We celebrated by going on a hike, unfortunately it rained…I mean POURED the whole time!!!! When we got to the top it was thundering, and usually I love thunder, but not when I am the tallest thing on a mountain!!! So instead of eating lunch at the top, we had to rush down and we got down in half the time it took to get up!!! This morning our girls moved really slow so it was difficult to get everything done. Me and Amberlynn have to tell each girl specifically what to do…even if we announce it to the whole cabin, so it takes a lot of patience on our part!!! They also love to talk, which also slows the process down; I can’t imagine having more girls!!! The girls had tennis this morning and then free swim, lunch (fried clams, kind of like popcorn shrimp…still yucky!!). Today we kayaked….so much fun….although all my girls got to the other edge of the lake and then complained that their arms were tired…..I guess what they did not realize was that they had to paddle back, so we were late for lunch because all the girls had to throw fits in the middle of the lake; but they all got back safe. In the evening we had a beach party where there were 8 different stations of games each group had to go to. When we went to bed last night it was pouring rain and when we woke up the morning it was still raining, so I was unable to run but on the upside I got another hour of sleep! The girls were up though but they all stayed in bed! Once Reveille went off we all got ready for breakfast….French Toast!
