After a great night's sleep at the fabulous O'Hearn-Hilton, we were ready to play New Hampshire tourist. So after a delicious homemade breakfast cooked by Chef Paulette, we began to think about plans for the day.We did have to run into town for a few errands, and to ship back our latest batch of t-shirts to make sure we had room for the ones we bought today. The weather report was foreboding, but the skies were only cloudy, so we decided to head for the Polar Caves because they were only 45 minutes away. Having grown up in Lowell, MA my family always visited New Hampshire in the summer on family vacations, so many of the tourist sights in New Hampshire are places I had visited as a child. When Jody & I came up here ... read more

We woke this morning in beautiful downtown Burlington, Vermont. I can't say enough about how nice this town is. Since it is a downtown hotel, there is no free hotel breakfast, so we went in search of somewhere to have breakfast. In looking at Yelp, there were several within walking distance, but most were upscale bistro's and bakeries and we were just looking for bacon and eggs. Finally, we found one called Handy Lunch which was just what we were looking for. A third generation run, since 1945, diner frequented mostly by locals and it was great! After breakfast, we loaded up the bike and headed for our first stop of the day, the Ben & Jerry's Factory Tour. Located due east of Burlington, we followed US-2E out of town for about 27 miles. On the ... read more

Hello all, due to computer issues and no internet yesterday, I am writing this final blog entry today. Our final day in Homer Spit began again with wonderful weather. We had a casual breakfast, then headed back to Anchorage. I have to say that this last stop was one of my favorites, although it would be very difficult to find one that I did not enjoy. I was a bit melancholy that our adventure was coming to an end, it was just so great. We ventured back through some familiar territory before stopping at the Summit Lake area to have lunch then check things out. It was a beautiful lake setting and we enjoyed some time down by the water, then went into the shop and enjoyed some ice cream out on the deck. We all ... read more

We are back in New Hampshire and are busy getting things settled before our departure for our RV trip two weeks from today. Lots to do here after being gone all winter, boat in the water, dock in, and the never ending yard work. We will need a vacation when we are through! Before leaving Florida we booked a private tour of Yellowstone along with the other three couples from Cedar Hammock. We were surprised and disappointed to find that the campground that we were hoping to stay at in Yellowstone was booked solid. Who would have guessed? We now have reservations right outside of the park in West Yellowstone and will be picked up there for our day long tour. We have worked on our menu and shopping list for our first stop at Wal ... read more

Today we were leaving Stowe and I was quite sad to be leaving as I had really enjoyed the area and could quite happily have stayed for a bit longer. The next stop on the tour was the Kancamagus Highway which was 2 hour drive from our hotel; it was a route I had read about before coming which was supposed to be one of the most scenic drives on the east side of the US. Grant and I set our go-pros to record the whole drive which was spectacular and offered some excellent views of the surrounding areas along the way. Sadly the colours had started to fade from the trees and it was clear that we had missed the best autumn colours by a few weeks at least. On checking the map I could ... read more

Geo: 44.3979, -71.589Today we started with a lecture on New England history that was interesting and very well delivered. Then a tour at a local farm followed by a visit to the town of Woodstock, NH (nothing to do with the music festival). After a few brief stops in the afternoon we drove to the Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa, at the foot of New Hampshire's White Mountains.... read more

Geo: 43.5005, -72.3712A cloudy day that started off with a fascinating tour of a sculptor's memorial centre - Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site in New Hampshire. After lunch we had a tour of the studio of a documentary film maker. Then some shopping and food tasting at a notable local store. On return to our hotel we went for a 45min guided nature walk in the woods.  A good day.... read more

Geo: 44.0012, -71.6276Here we go again, sun's still shining and we're off to do nothing but walk.Decided to hike to Arethusa Falls. Heard the walk is worth it.Oops, passed Diana's Bath and decide to do the walk and check it out. Side tracked again. It was lovely an we just kept walking, you could follow it way past the 'bath'. Still not a lot of water, but just beautiful. Eventually get back on track.Taken to sitting in the boot of the car to devour our snacks. Not sure why when we stop in such picturesque places. Anyway, after some confusion about the hike, we're off.Long walk and its all uphill. Does it ever end? And its beautiful!!Heading back to town and everyone's starving. Called into the tiniest deli and yep, more pizza for lunch. Found some ... read more

Geo: 44.0012, -71.6276Headed off to Loon Mountain to give the girls some fun. Sun's still shining. On on the way we stopped off and saw our first covered bridge 'Albany' (one of the 58 they have). We also walked the Lower Falls and the Basin. There's not a lot of water around as apparently they've been in a drought.Got to Loon Mountain which looked deserted only to find out that they had closed for the season other than the cable car to the top of the mountain. Girls disappointed as we're looking forward to the adventure activities, zip lining, rock climbing etc. So headed off into Lincoln and the girls went to Alpine Adventures, the roping place. We only did the ropes course that was in town, but perhaps we should have done the full zip line, ... read more
