Howdy everyone, What a strange thought that my 10 weeks here at camp are over as of tomorrow!!! It's been a great summer again, we've had great weather, great campers, and after all the sicknesses at the barn we were left with 7 great horses too! For the last week I was a counselor in Cabin Z. With a few counselors having to leave early for college they were short so I volunteered. It was a big change from the last time, when I had Cabin S (some of the youngest campers) to move into the Senior division, with some of [View Full Entry]

Well, I have had a fab summer and have now been in the US for 10 weeks. I have finished working adventure camp and have just completed one week of family camp! This was much more relaxed and the international staff got a surprise pay cheque which was very welcome. It was a very strange week with only 6 families but I enjoyed it and we were finished by 9pm everyday. I thought that was it for work but I am now helping out with a ropes course tomorrow for cancer survivors. I couldn't say no. I have also decided to [View Full Entry]

I returned from Iguazu Falls into Buenos Aires and stayed at a friend's apartment for two nights...my last two in South America. The first day back was what the South Americans call "Friends Day". Apparently it's like Valentines day, except just for friends....which is kind of a cool idea. I think it might just be an excuse to have a party, but it's a registered holiday so I couldn't argue with that. I ended up going out with about 12 other Argentine friends and we went to a bar where they had rented out the top floor. We ate, drank and [View Full Entry]

Coming to the end of my two weeks with my second group of campers. Only one group left to go and then I have a week of family camp! Not exactly sure what that it is but sounds intriguing. Still having a fab time and loving being outdoors. Getting used to driving on the other side of the road and driving an automatic. Looking forward to having Saturday off. We are planning a big BBQ. Went and played mini golf or crazy golf as we call is last session break and also saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which I would [View Full Entry]

Howdy everyone!! Haven't written for a long time but I will update you all on my camp lifestyle and routine. There really isn't a big change to what we do every week you see, apart from special days but I'll get to that later. And we share the computer between around 50 staff members so I don't have a lot of time to write either! Staff week was quiet, just training sessions, not too many new things but a good opportunity to get to know the rest of the staff. My parents also managed to pay me a visit and check [View Full Entry]

Just completed the first week of specialised training. Excellent fun. Can't believe this is work! I think it will be really different when the kids arrive so am making the most of it now. Learnt how to canoe. It was such good fun until we played chase the sponge. Jason and I managed to capsize the canoe. It was pretty scarey at the time as I got stuck under the boat but once I stopped panicking I relaxed and swam out from underneath. I pretended that we were meant to capsize so we could practise a rescue! We also went in [View Full Entry]

Just returned from a one night camping trip around the Sargent Center trails. Weather has now changed from hot and humid to wet and cold. Had an excellent camping trip even in the rain. I made a camp fire and helped to cook dinner, pitch the tents, tie a bear bag, sing songs and play games. We even made apple pancakes with maple syrup for breakfast - excellent! Tommorow I am going canoeing and then learning how to teach archery! Saturday I have to go on Raptors Watch which is where you climb a tower and then jump off! Free time [View Full Entry]

I had one of my best Sprout trips ever last week. We stayed on a farm (well, it was more of a resort with a few animals) in New Hampshire for the week. The farm was great for a Sprout trip because all the activities and meals were right there and within walking distance. We spent the week boating around on the private pond, feeding animals, milking goats and cows, playing basketball, and swimming around in their 3 pools. We even had the option of picking eggs from the chicken coup and then the kitchen would make them however we wanted [View Full Entry]

We got to camp about 10pm Friday evening, it was incredibly warm and sticky and the mosquitos were out in full force! I desperatley wanted to shower but was so tired just went o bed. We are staying in whats called a yurt while we are on staff training over the next few weeks. Its hard to explain what a yurt is, I've got some photos which I may be able to put on at a later date. Its a very basic round building, very spaceous with a battery operated light. They are quite neat really! Today and yesterday I've been [View Full Entry]
