Day 20

ALOT, alot alot, has happened this week!
So our day off last Thursday, we decided to go to Lindy's diner for breakfast... and of course the American sized portions meant we ordered far too much food. Decided to drive out to Boston, got as ar as the state line and thought sack that lets go to the beach... 'Hampton beach' not the posh one we see from Sex and The city... the hillbilly version, but it was still good fun, the ocean was freezing but we had a competition to see who could go in the furthest... of course I won by dunking right under. There were baywatch style lifeguards... quad bikes and flosts as well which was fun! Ended the night with a shop around target where we bought walkie talkies to speak to each other around camp and a meal at the olive garden... again, HUGE portions, it felt weird being at an Itallian with an empty glass of wine in front of me.
Saturday came and it was regular shedule, Had council Fire at night which was ACE fun! I'm on the white tribe with 3 of the 'Upper Pioneers' as tribe chiefs, Abbey, Julie and Hayley, they are the oldest campers at 14 years old and 'they run the camp' basically... There were games for all the age groups and of course we got to play too a game called HUG which you have to get in groups of a certain number which is called out ASAP in order to win, I was kicking green tribe members off my group. The score was 4/4 at the end of the night so I guess that's better than losing.
Sunday was good, woke up with a sore throst from all the shouting, GOT MY FIRST LETTER!! Was from Ruth Milne and I was super excited! Got our regular heads checked fromt he Nurse... my room mate had some sort of species in her hair... NOT impressed... The Nurse told us Glasgow and Liverpool were bombed and was relieved to phone home and find out it wasnt anything too major, but still, idiots out there eh. Went to the front field for tribe games, was really competitive and great fun, tribes split into 5 teams, my team won two and drew one and the white tribe won over all so that was ace!Had a sing songy thing at night, I was at the front and with my sore throat sounded worse than usual!
Monday was international day which suprised me cos my flag hadnt arrived yet... but I wore my scarf all day over my swimmer with pride! Claire, Katie and I organised the games for the evening and had sort of a language class so all the kids could copy the way we speak... book still being their favourite to make me say. Lizzie spoke Yorkshire and I thought I was going to pee myself laughing.
Tuesday was my bad day, woke up feeling like crap, had the 'Mons' as they call it which is basically the camp illness everyone gets. My room got to go to the ice cream parlor to claim our prize for winning skit night... I was on duty so didnt get to go, butJenna did and she didn't even take part in it... so that hacked me off more... Ended up watching the goonies with all the kids in Sleepy Hollow which cheered me up, it was Maddy's dvd so there were heaps of different bits! The day improved a bit when a parcel arrived, a camp hoody i ordered and watched DVDs whilst I completed my duties at night time with Lizzie and and Tanya...
Weds was Independence day but it rained at lunch... had a bbq at night, indoors and no one put on fire works for us to watch cos of the weather, but during dinner they played a bot of ol' Brucie 'born in the USA' and 'Sweet home Alabama' which was hilarious! Had Tribe games in the Ark at night, I managed to stay in for 3 and was caught out in the last one... cos I have young kids we had to go home at half 8.
Yesterday was good, nice weather etc, after classes a storm was brewing so had to get the kids out of the water and send them back to cabins, the water went really still and it was half sunny half dark clouds and little rumbles of very faint thunder, it passed really quickly and went swimming after and the water was so nice, I know what they mean now when they say 'Calm before the storm' except the storm didnt coms until 10 o'clock... For dinner pudding was cookies so they made us dance which was hepas of fun, this one kid Anna and I had a routine going on! Went back to the bunk, the kids read me a story and I fell asleep by half 8... woke up this morning and everyone was shocked I slept through the storm!
My shoulder are black but my face is still white, but I'm working on it, being on the dock all day! The Olympics is this weekend which sounds like my cup of tea so am very excited!
