First Blog!!!
So this trip was a few weeks back but I am trying to become more comfortable using this blog site! Here is my first attempt!!
Labor Day weekend, Doug tried to plan a surprise trip to New Hampshire. Unfortunately, I am one of those need to know kinds of girls, and I snooped around until I found out where we were going! He wasn’t too happy but was able to keep everything else on the trip a surprise.
We headed up to New Hampshire, stopping at a Worchester breakfast place. We love breakfast food! We then headed up to Weirs Beach, a place that Doug had gone as a little kid. Most things were closed but it was still fun to walk around. We did get in some mini golf at a place nearby and of course Doug won. We then went to the Kellerhaus! ( http://www.kellerhaus.com/icecreambuffet.htm) Its a place where you make your own sundae's with a topping buffett! Doug put a little of everything on, but I stuck to only my favorites, strawberries, chocolate sprinkles and nuts! oh yeah and whipped cream too!
Doug and I had never really drank wine
before and knew nothing about it, so one day while on a different weekend trip, we stopped at a winery in Massachussetts. We got a tour and did a tasting and decided that we were going to try and learn more about wine. We've been visiting Connecticut wineries as often as we can and so while on our way up to New Hampshire, we stopped at Stone Gate Vineyard. (http://www.stonegatevineyard.com/) It was a really pretty place, and they had a Cayuga wine that we really enjoyed. (sounds like we know what were talking about huh?!)
We stayed at this really cute bed and breakfast place called the Wakefield Inn (http://www.wakefieldinn.com/) It was our first attempt at being more sophisticated and we loved it! The room was really neat. We stayed in the Sanborn Room and would recommend it. The grounds were lovely, and it was nice to wake up for coffee and hang out on the big comfy couches before having a really great breakfast. Although Doug didn’t like it cause it had onions in it, should have told them ahead of time!
Since we are poor people, we stopped and had dinner at The Poor People’s Pub!
(http://www.poorpeoplespub.com/next.html) Well we went there because it was really one of the only places open in the area. We had intentions of driving up to North Conway but realized it was a little far from our hotel. Not the best beer, but really good French onion soup. Doug had pizza bites! After that we went to another place for drinks and I cant remember the name, oh well.
After our great breakfast in the morning, we headed up towards North Conway. It was a beautiful day, mid 60’s at the bottom of Mount Washington. We got there around 11, bout our tickets and jumped on the Cog Railway! (http://www.thecog.com/) It was so cool going up the mountain. When we got to the top, it was about 35 degrees and extremely windy. Check out some of our pictures from the top. The biodesiel train ride was really neat too, at one point it is actually pointed up at a 37 degree angle. When you stand up on the train you have to lean so far forward so you don’t fall over. Amazing views and a nice relaxing way to get to the top of the mountain!
Continue to check
