Las Vegas BABY!!!!!!!! 22nd-27th June 2009-06-29

Monday 22nd
We left Miami at about 4:15pm to go to the airport. Nick, who we had made friends with in the hostel brought us to Miami airport instead of us having to get 3 buses to get there and then the tri-rail(train) to fort Lauderdale airport to fly out! It only took about 15minutes to get there, we said our good-byes and off we trotted to find our train. 5:10pm tri rail came we hopped on with our now SERIOUSLY heavy backpacks. Few minutes past and we all realised there was no air conditioning on the train and it was 40 degrees outside, sweat was drippin off everyone. Fort Lauderdale is about 7 stops from Miami...we were 2 stops away when the driver came on over speaker saying there was a train further up broken down on the track and we’d have to wait while 2 south bound trains passed by us before we could change over on to their track. WHAT THE FUCK? Me and Rhona were like 2 bitches, if we miss this flight thats it like. wer beginning to think god doesn’t love us.   Eventually 2 trains passed by and we swapped over tracks and we got to the airport checked in $25.00 per bag, NOT HAPPY BUNNIES! Got on the flight I was in the middle seat again why me? I always get stuck in between 2 fat people.....but luckily enough we asked could Rhona sat beside me which meant just 1 fat person the other side this time! 
We looked around the plane, never have I seen so many kids on a flight in my life, all crying of course there was a newborn baby behind us, 2 year old in front of us and few more across! We taught to ourselves who the hell brings their kids to Vegas??? We arrived in Las vegas at 10:30pm local time (3 hours behind Miami) Hotel was nice and clean we were delighted but i was stil weary about sleeping inside the sheets. My rash got worse after treatment, more appeared and i had about 30 on one leg and 12 on the other, 10 on my back, 15 on my right arm and 9 on my left. I was unsure whether the treatment had worked. So depressing, and it looked awful. Really big lumps and very very red disgusting! Because i had told the manager in the hostel i had a rash(before i went to hospital) she put me in a new room and with no-one else just me, nick & rhona. We got up Monday to discover I had new & different bites, oh and nick & rhona developed some bites the same as my new ones which obviously meant the new room had bed bugs of some sort too! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

Tuesday 23rd June
Woke up nice and early in our big KING SIZE bed each! Best sleep EVER!!!! We had a look around the hotel which was huge, it was called circus circus. It was like a huge circus, it had adventuredome for kids and adults really cool now we began to understand why people would bring kids here. They have the biggest indoor rollercoaster/adventure park. They have huge casino aswell on ground level! We then went to find the famous strip, we walked the complete opposite way out of the hotel and ended up walkin bout a mile to get to the strip instead of going out the back doors OOOOPSSSSS!!
Eventually we found it in the roasting hot heat almost dying lol.... walked along it in AMAZEMENT! We pictured vegas to be real tacky and though it would look crap during the day....NOOOOOOO. It was so clean, and so posh. All the hotels along the strip are beautiful, really really well designed and looked after. On the left hand size there is

Wednesday 24th June
Today was a real lazy day didn’t get up until like 2pm, we were wrecked from last night so we just slept in and watched TV(what a luxury) hahaha! So we went downstairs and decided we’d go for the buffet, all you can eat for $14.50...we went in and I got roast chicken, chicken fajitas, chicken spring rolls, mash potatoes, stuffing, broccoli, carrots, peas, rice, made my own salad with honey & mustard dressing, cheesecake, banana, apple, pear and pepsi! Obviously i had to put the fruit in my handbag but what a meal for under $15.00...well fed ha 
We went down the strip to find a tour office to get to the grand canyon. We found a couple of different companies, one seemed the best though and he was offering it to us for $95.00 including breakfast & dinner so we said we’d go with that one. I never knew there was 4 different rims to the grand canyon, north, south, west and it wasn’t east it was something else! We decided to go for the southern rim it was the deepest and the widest part of the canyon 8000ft, over a mile deep and 10miles wide. We booked it or tomorrow. Went to bed early to have good rest!

Thursday 25th June
5am----ring ring, ring ring.....whats that noise ugggghhhh? It was our room phone the tour were ringing to give us a wake up call. How nice! We weren’t leaving for an hour!! Anyhu, we got ready and went and sat out waiting for bus...the bus brought us to the tours headquarters 10mins away and we all got off and had to sign in and stuff, there were bout 65 people for southern rim and 90 for west rim. We didn’t know that the southern tour was 5 HOURS drive away, hmmmm....should be fun! The west rim was only 2.5hours away so thats why all the people who had kids went on that one! And its more child-friendly with like shows and stuff. We got to the canyon at 1:45pm and spent an hour at mathers point talking pictures and walking along it. Its pretty amazing seeing it, the weather was a little overcast so we didn’t get the clearest pictures but still its cool! Then we got back on bus and went to bright angel point, took some pictures(theres only so many u can take really) spent hour and half there and then headed back on bus for 5 more lovely hours, my arse was BROKE at this stage and this was a pretty comfortable bus! Back to hotel at 10.00 BED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday 26th June
We had to get up so early to check out grrrrrrrrrrrrrr...we were stayin in hostel down the road for tonight. (we had only planned staying there 4 nights but our bus to san Francisco was not till sat) so
We tried booking another night at the hotel but because it was weekend the prices shot up. We paid $109.00 between us for the room for 4 nights...then for just Friday night it was $80.00 so we said fuck it!
So off we went to find the hostel “sincity hostel” it said on the web page that it was the only hostel on the strip so we were happy out...got a map and went lookin it took us over ah hour to find it....on the strip MY ARSE!!!!!!!!! It was 2 hours walk away from the top of the strip to the hostel it was almost in downtown las vegas! Grrrrrr. It was a pure dump, shithole not clean beds were crap and our “private room” was inside a dorm room, how does that work...its not private! Our room was like a box, 2 sngle beds no plug sockets to charge anything, I had a shower in our shared bathroom and it was more like a bath and it flooded the entire bathroom! Anyways we dumped our stuff and headed back out again had to get the bus to the strip now cause it was extremely far to walk!

We did the top left size of the strip today lookin at all the hotels and taking pictures, We started at
Luxor hotel it’s an Egyptian theme with huge pyramids outside and lions...impressive!
Excalibur hotel its all castels and fantasy world
New York, New York it had the manhattan skyline, the Brooklyn bridge, statue of liberty.
Monte Carlo was a French theme i think, we didn’t look too much at this one!
Bellagio was absolutely amazing, its where they filmed oceans 11 with the cool water fountain dancing.
Ceasars Palace was roman theme, looked cool inside and it had a replica of the coliseum in Rome.
The mirage had shows and volcano eruptions every hour after 8pm and dolphin shows
Treasure Island was pirate theme and had pirate shows every ½ hour after 6pm
Triump Towers (most expensive in Las vegas, the whole building is sheeted in gold) no theme
Circus Circus this is where all parents with kids stay loads to do for kids, we stayed here
Stratosphere the tallest in las vegas, and u can climb to the top. Huge thrill rides
Inside all the hotels they have shopping centres, casinos, bars, and like mc donalds, panda express, star bucks, loads of different restaurants. So cool! Loved it!
Went out to a bar tonight and had a few drinks, beer again...ha! Must say im getting to like it now at this stage lol. Hopefully wont get a beer belly!

Saturday 27th June
We had to be out of the hostel this morning at like 11am....OMG and our bus to san fran wasn’t until 11.45pm so 12hours we had to go and find something to do or place to stay! We decided to do the right size of the strip today. Emma txt me and we went to MGM Grande hotel to see the lion habitat they have inside the hotel its pretty impressive! They have a area sectoned off with all glass and the lions live in there...there’s rocks, water, mountain type things and loads of toys for the lions to play with. There were male and female lions. We met Emma and her friend Kayley there and we chatted for awhile they were tellin us all about san Francisco and Los Angeles! We went down along the strip a bit and went into the Venetian, I love it! Its soooooo cool!! Its the exact same thing as venice! They had made a replica of st marks square, the Grand Canal, and de rialto its the main bridge n venice! It was really really well done...If I come back to Vegas I’m so staying there I will save all the money to go back and stay there. Its unbelievable!

On the right the hotels are:
Tropicana Tropical theme (shitty)
MGM Grande really futuristic hotel and had the lions insside
Planet Hollywood the name says it all
Paris they had a replica Eiffel tower ¼ of the size of the real one.
Ballys no theme just a hotel
O ‘Sheas irish casino and hotel
Imperial Palace didn’t look at this one
Harrahs was soooooooooooo tacky!!
The Venetian Best hotel EVER! Extremely well done complete copy of Venice
The Palazzo same owner so its Italian themed too
Wynn Penske Wynn Ferrari maserati
Encore lake of dreams
Rivera tacky just casino lights and stuff!
Sahara sahara theme hahaha!

We left Emma & Kayley at Circus Circus and we went down to get our bags and bring them up to their room as the bus was pickng us up there. We left our stuff off and we all went up the strip to see the different outdoor activities for free. First off was BELLAGIO beautiful building, this is where they filmed oceans 11. They had a really cool water show, called dancing water fountains. Water came shooting out of the ground and you’ll see in my pics. Its cool! Then we went to the MIRAGE where they had the volcano eruption every hour so we stood there got there a little late so just caught the last few minutes but was also very interesting. Next up was TREASURE ISLAND and they have like pirates and boats out the front in the water and they do pirate shows every ½ hour... there were girls dancing and swinging from ropes!! We left the girls and went to get our stuff and catch the bus!
We came out about 11.30 and hopped on the bus so looking forward to sleeping after our long day. The bus had beds on it and everything so we were super excited...Got on and it was packed it sleeps 36people got bunks and couches that turn into beds...About 10 people on the bus were absolutely pissed and shouting/screaming, and just bein rude we looked around NO TOILET?? WHAT THE FUCK??? Its a 19 HOUR bus journey to San Francisco.... HELLO? Do you know what Im like with the toilet???????? Well I was like a B***H me and rhona layed down on the mattresses and we were getting kicked cuz the stupid French lesbians were messin fighting each other and stuff and we were so mad! I got up and shouted at the bus driver could I take one of the top bunks but they were already taken by people yet they were down on our beds messin.... UGH! One german guy was saying to relax and have some fun no need to be uptight but come on like it was a complete party bus and we were wrecked. Eventually he felt sorry for me and gave me his bed. On the top of the bus hanging from the roof, it seemed REALLY SAFE....NOTTTTTTTTTTT!!!! I felt i was gonna roll of the top and on to the rest of them on the floor. The bus was so shaky and really feel all the bumps. I clung on for dear life, I had my arms kriss crossed hangin on to my mini backpack with my laptop etc in it and my hands were glued to the side of the bus. We got to LA and dropped off about 8 people all the noisy ones! We went toilet and got back on....another 13 hours OH YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went back to sleep till 9.30am then we stopped for brekkie, and kinda got to know some of the people on the bus they had been travelling around on this for 16 DAYS!!!!!!!!!
I would so recommend everybody to come to Las Vegas its the best part of my trip so far, its not expensive its cheaper than New York and Miami.... its only 7% tax also and theres loads to do there. And even for kids its a cool place, its not tacky in anyway at all its pure posh the hotels are fantastic! And rooms are cheap during the week and expensive at the weekends. Food is lovely and the drinks/beer is so cheap it’s like $7 for a vodka and it was $12-$14 in south beach Miami... for beer its like $3-$4 so very well worth it.... Would definitely come back again when Im rich and have loads of money to spend!

Bye for now  xxxxxxxxxx

Hi guys So its been a year since I left Ireland to follow my dreams and travel the world. Since then I have been to North America, Fiji & Australia. I am still currently in Australia and just finished my 3 months fruitpicking to extend my visa for a second year. I never planned to stay in Australlia for longer than my first year visa which should run out on the 31st of July 2010. Leaving home I hoped I would come away and enjoy myself and then settle back into Ireland after my traveling was done. Now I feel more unsure than ever.. I dont know when I want to come home? All I know is that I wa... full info
