Winter 08-09 Trip Entry 5

Drove a total of 92 miles from Stove Pipe Wells Campground to Terrible's Lakeside Casino and RV Park.
On the way to Terribles we stopped and had lunch with Wendy's parents at Chinese Buffet located behind Wal-Mart. Then we headed to Terrible's and got all setup. For dinner the 4 of us headed over to Terrible's Casino for dinner for their Buffet.

Friday Dec. 5, 2008

We all went over and had breakfast at the casino and Wendy & mine were free , we used points on our player club card. After breakfast we went to Doghouse VW Repair for a few more parts, the used book store for Wendy & Wal-Mart for some groceries. For dinner we went back to the casino for thr Friday seafood buffet.

Saturday Dec. 6, 2008

Wendy and her Mom wanted to go see Pahrump- a-pum-pum and it ended up an event for children not what they expected. After that we stopped at Home Depot to get a few things then it was off to find the D is for Dog event.
On the way there all of a sudden smoke started billowing out from the dash of the VW and I pulled right off the road and cut the ignition. I opened the front hood & found that the wires from the Horn had shorted and were burnt to a crisp. I disconnected them & was able to wrap the rest of the wires. So I now have no wiring to the horn but that does not matter since the wiring in the steering wheel is also gone. Also discovered that I had no brake lights and since it was not far back to the RV Park we drove back there so I could work on the VW there. I got the brake lights working & then went to the casino for one of their 1/2 pound bugers togo and used my points & it ended up costing me $2.00. When I got back I ate it while sitting outside and Wendy went to the Hot tub and I worked some more on the VW.

Sunday Dec. 7, 2008

We drove into town bought Coke at Walgreen's and stopped at Ace Hardware to get my new VW key blanks cut but they said they could not cut them Oh well I will wait until I can stop at a locksmith to get them cut. Got back to watch the Bronco's play the Kansas City Chief's. Wendy did 5 loads of laundry during the Game which the Bronco's won. For dinner we went over to Wendy's folks Bud & Dixie and while we were there I started to rain some.
SInce we have full hookups for heat we were using a small electric space heater. Gordon ended up knocking the heater down the entry steps & now the fan runs but puts out little heat. I took the heater apart & got it working but it stopped putting out heat later that night so I guess it is time to get a new one.
We leave tomorrow and head into SoCal to get a new windshield & visit my Brother & his family.
