What a wonderful night's sleep and oh my goodness what an incredible shower !! Tim was just as happy too. He had a pot of hot coffee with all the trimmings right at his bedside. We were both in heaven to say the least. We took our time getting up and ready but eventually made it downstairs to the breakfast buffet. It was okay but it sure wasn't anything like that incredible dinner last night. We finished up breakfast but of course we had to stop by a few machines on the way out the door so we played for a minute or two. With no luck in sight, we made our way down the streets of Reno and all the way back to the motorhome. As we turned the corner and saw Big Bertha sitting there we were very thankful there were no parking tickets on her windshield. We had bought a parking pass the night before but it expired at 7:03 this morning so we were kinda scared we might end up with a ticket but I guess today went from being unlucky to pretty lucky. Poor Bertha, I missed her last night, well just a little. We immediately
turned the air on and hit the road headed towards Lake Tahoe. On our trip over, we made a pit stop in an old western town called Virginia City, NV. You may recognize the name from the hit TV show Bonanza. This is where the old homestead of Ben Cartwright still stands to this day and where parts of Bonanza were filmed back in its day. We took a tour of the old cemetery there on the hill which was really cool. We love walking through old cemeteries and looking at the headstones and stuff, it may sound a little creepy but it's really neat. After strolling through the cemetery we headed into town where we spent a few hours walking in and out of all the stores, saloons and bars. This town is soooo cool !! All the buildings are original and they look just like they did back in the old days. The old timey saloons and mercantile stores were so awesome. We decided to stop in at one particular saloon that also had several slot machines throughout. Tim grabbed him a cold beer and we found a seat at a couple of slot machines and began to
gamble our children's future away. We were having a blast watching all the men walk around dressed like sheriffs and we even saw an old miner with his donkey. I ended up hitting a few things on my machine and before I knew it I had that thing up to $751.00 !! Not bad for a hole in the wall saloon in downtown Virginia City. It was time to cash out and hit the road for me, I was taking this money home with me ! :-) Plus, we had a 5:30 pm reservation in Lake Tahoe for a Captain's Dinner Cruise and we couldn't be late. The drive over to Lake Tahoe wasn't that bad at all. The scenery was beautiful and the roads were really good for driving. We arrived at the dock of the M.S. Dixie II about 30 minutes early so we took our time getting ready and then headed on over to set sail. It was just breathtaking.........the water in Lake Tahoe is so blue, it looks like you're in the carribean somewhere and the sun was just glistening so beautifully on the water. Now I know why everyone always says you have to go
to Lake Tahoe !! I couldn't wait to get on that boat and explore the rest of the Lake. The Captain made his last call to board and then we were off. It was a 6:00 pm sunset cruise and it was so romantic. There was a live band playing Jimmy Buffet and a little bit of Rock n' Roll and some people were even dancing. Of course, I couldn't get Tim on the dance floor but that was okay because I was having plenty enough fun just watching the water and feeling the sun on my face. Sometime around 7:00 pm the Captain called for us to meet in the main dining hall for dinner. We had open seating and had met a couple out on the deck so the four of us sat together at a table right by the window. First, we were served our shrimp cocktail as an appetizer followed by a caesar salad. Next, came our main course which was absolutely delicious. I had the artichoke stuffed chicken breast while Tim enjoyed the steak with mashed potatoes. To end our wonderful dinner we were served a chocolate mousse cake topped with whipped cream and chocolate
shavings. I was in heaven at this point......my tummy was full, the sun was setting and I was on a boat in the middle of Lake Tahoe with my hunny. WOW, life is good about right now !! Soon it was 9:00 pm and after watching one of the most incredible sunsets I've ever seen, the night was coming to an end. We were back at the dock and it was time to debark the M.S. Dixie II. She gave us a great ride and a beautiful scenic tour of Lake Tahoe and was well worth the $65.00 per person the three hours cruise cost. We made it back to the motorhome safely and were soon on our way to Wal-Mart which was in nearby Carson City. As Tim was getting everything set up for the night, I actually fell asleep across the bed, clothes, shoes and all !! I guess I was more tired than I realized. He let me lay there for a little while and then he woke me as he was coming to bed. All in all today was a great day and I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Love ya, night night ! :-)
