Well today was a great day and also a sad day. We started out in Lakeside OR at around 8am. I had read in a travel guide that there was a geyser called "Old Perpetual" just 1 mile north of Lakeview so wanted to see it before we left town Apparently it spouted 200 degree water 90 feet in the air every 90 seconds. How could we miss that! Russ needed a latte first so we headed to the nearest pub/corner store/coffee bar (as only the US has). The lady who was making the coffee was chatty and nice so Rusty said "can you tell us which was to the Old Geezer"? Of course, it is pronounced "Geyser" not "Geezer" so the lady started laughing. Unfortunately the "old Geezer" has dried up in the recent drought and was no longer working. We had a good laugh over this. We headed to Susanville and got there around lunch. It was stinking hot - the kind of hot where it is hard to breath. Add this to the fact that I was starving and it made for a very grumpy Sue. But soon we were on the way to Reno. This is the

Checking into the status of the "Old Geezer"
sad part of the day.... we were crusing down the highway and came across a deer that had been hit by a car but not killed. She was sitting on the side of the road, bloody and scared and looked at me like "help me". What could we do? It was very upsetting to both of us and put a damper on the day for sure. I spend about 20 miles crying - it sounds crazy but it will take a long time before I forget about that deer.

We got to Reno and the traffic started. We had ridden the last two days without seeing more than 100 cars it seems so it was a shock to get back into traffic and freeways and onramps, etc. People drive like idiots. Plus it was so windy, it was hard the keep the bike in one lane. We went through Carson City then finally winded our way up the mountain toward Tahoe. The first view point, which I missed stopping at, was seriously breath-taking. We took a few more pics at the second view point.

The road to the south shore was winding and busy. First Russ almost got

Just kidding, we totally lost!
hit by someone turning left onto the highway and then seconds later, I almost got hit. Good thing we are super vigilant about watching for these losers!

Finally, we arrive at Harrahs. the room is gorgeous but the casino is run down, not at all busy and most of the amenities are either closed or only open on weekends. I can't believe the old slot games they have here and surprizing but ol' Lake City Casinos has way more modern games and is clean and well staffed, compared to Harrahs! We had a blast though playing the slots and drinking margs at Cabo Wabo.

Tomorrow - well who knows! We only had up to Tahoe planned. Rusty is thinking Yosemite - I personally want to get back to the back-roads where there is less traffic.

Check back tomorrow and love to you all!
