Well I am now back from Chicago. Nothing like taking a road trip with two teenage boys altogether in the back seat. Any way spent Sunday night in Minnesota. Then Travelled to Chicago Ill. Stayed in one of Fred's sister's room. Very nice. Anyway on Wednesday went into Chicago city on Thursday. What a mission took hour and a half, but lots to see. Well...we finally made it back to the great state of Nebraska. We were anxious and happy and sad to be back, paradoxially, all at the same time. The weather is going to take some getting used to. We have been spoiled by 80 degree heat. But, nothing feels better than being back in the presence of our families, making up for lost time. Hello everyone, With the Olympics approaching in China, I anticipate more people will be reading this blog. I want to provide some info one last time before I close out this blog. I call this the "must read" post, because it deals with something most travelers may have with them: portable electronic devices. In the hotels in China, it seemed there was about a 50/50 chance that the electrical outlets worked properly. Hey all, I flew up north with the Schunks and landed in Kansas City, Missouri before finally arriving in Nebraska. Eric is a big fan of Nebraska Huskers, and as the result, I was introduced closely to the Huskers land. We got along pretty well, considering it is off season for college football - I can't wait until it is starting again in about eight months. Omaha is a cool, chilling town, and it is definitely cold here. At one point it is registered as 15F outside high temp, make me a very happy little southern bird. I am home. Since returning, I have gotten some emails about where I stayed in Beijing and how to get around, so I decided to post some helpful information for future Beijiing travellers. The Shuttle bus pictures are two sides of a brochure that can take you from the airport to the cool part of Beijing, near Tiananmen square and stuff. Mom played hooky from work and we drove to Omaha to visit the zoo. For some reason, my whole family has a love of zoos. Whenever we're on vacation someplace with a nice zoo, we go. Last week I thought to myself, "You know, it'd be nice to go to the Omaha Zoo. I haven't been there for years." The next day, Mom said, "You know, I can take a day off of work. Since it's the end of July, I wanted to publish a quick update with the goings-on of the past few weeks. After Jackson, Philippe and I spent a few days back in Boulder preparing for him to leave. Coordinating with his other climbing partner (Brad McMillon), running a million small errands, packing... all the while, enjoying the excellent company of old and new friends in Boulder. My 2:50 flight from Philly took off at about 5pm. In a thunderstorm. I blatantly missed my connecting flight in Chicago (scheduled for 5pm CT) and had to switch and lay over for three hours. Had to call my client from the airport while charging my cell phone and Ipod, and ended our hearing prep by saying "I have a few more things to talk about, but my plane leaves in five minutes so I need to go."
