St. Regis to Three Forks Montana
Day 3. Wednesday, September 2.
Today was just a hard day of driving up and down mountain passes, and long stretches in “Big Sky” country.
On the climbs, I put The Beast in tow mode and chugged up with the 18 wheelers. Going down, tow mode causes the transmission to help brake the rig. The speed limit for our weighted rig on the downhill side was 25 mph. I used tow mode and the hand toggle for applying the brakes in Uncle Joe. This was a handy feature and helped control our speed of descent without putting all of the responsibility on the brakes of the truck. I can apply the electric brakes of the trailer without pressing the truck brakes. It is like throwing out a sea anchor, for you sailors who are reading my travel blog. (Hi Ricky!)
This is beautiful country. We’ve been through this territory before on our way back home from our Jackson Hole - Yellowstone trip, four or five years ago.
After resting up for a couple of days in Three Forks Montana, we will enter new territory; new to us that is.
I had an interesting thing happen today. After leaving a rest stop, driving down the highway, I noticed some hair in front of my left eye. I tried to wipe it aside with my hand reaching up to my head to brush aside a wayward lock.
Well, it didn’t move. Maybe it was a stray eyelash? I reached up under my eyeglasses in attempt to align the lashes.
Nope.
This was when I realized that I have grown Andy Rooney eyebrows! And they are hanging and twisting down in front of my left eye; my good eye. My baseball hitting eye.
Nan has offered to trim ‘em back, but with vanity, I say “no.” Maybe I can find some old “butch wax” which me and my brother used to tame our flat tops when we were kids? There is just so much you can do with a cowlick.
I’m thinking, I have cowlick eyebrows, or bushytailed ones.
You can see on Google maps where we camped at Three Forks:

More to come.
