Day 2. Tuesday, September 1.
Boy howdy; Tuesday was a long day. Monday night was a long night.
Monday night, we relived a previous night on an outing in Uncle Joe about air management.
At Nan’s age, she gets hot during the night. At my age, I don’t like a whole lot of loud noise or commotion during the night, like the sound of the loud ceiling air vent in our bedroom in Uncle Joe. This was voo-de-jay. Forget the details, we figured it out to nobody’s satisfaction.
Tuesday morning, “Honey, I’m going to check the air pressure in that tire.”
. . . . . .
“Honey, we have ourselves a flat tire on Uncle Joe!”
So, we had to figure out how to use On Star in The Beast (truck) to find help with the tire. Nan likes Les Schwab, so we got the phone number for that dealer in Moses Lake. We called them and they were out to the campground within the hour. They took the tire off, took it back to the shop, fixed it (a nail puncture), brought it back out and put it back on Uncle
Joe. Our insurance should cover some of this cost. We will find out. We were might impressed with Les Schwab!
While we got a late start, we still made the day. Basically, it was a travel day, from Moses Lake to St. Regis, Montana. A lot of the sections of Hwy 90 through Idaho and Montana are in need of and are getting repair. We are sure this is a full time job, section after section.
I’ll tell you, there are some uphill climbs and downhill skids to be negotiated along this route. We kind of follow the lead of some of the 18 wheelers, and put The Beast in “tow mode;” a lower gear that helps both going up and coming down a mountain pass. We are careful and cautious.
Tuesday night we are ensconced at the Nugget RV Park in St. Regis, Montana. It happens that we stayed in this RV campground in 2004 during our return trip from Jackson Hole and Yellowstone. There are new owners, and the campground is nice for an overnight stay.
You can see on Google Maps where we camped at Nugget RV Park in St. Regis:
