Alright...so this is the real beginning of my "Travel Blog". I'm not sure how well I'll be able to keep it up, but I'll do my best depending on access.
Lots of big things happening in my life these days. I am turning "two dozen" as a friend says tomorrow afternoon! Birthdays are fun. And in about 7 weeks I will be packing up my bags and moving to Madagascar...at least for two years!
I am joining the Peace Corps (as earlier mentioned) and going to be working as Community Health Educator in Madagascar. My first 3 months will be spent in Antananarivo, the capital, doing some training and "cultural adjustment". As well as spending about 5 hours a day learning language.
It's interesting...this process of joining the Peace Corps. You are a volunteer. You "join". And yet, I am requested to dress professionally. Not a big deal, but what exactly is professional in Madagascar? It just makes me curious. It is much more of a "job" than a "volunteerism", I think.
Nonetheless, I am very excited! I'll leave at the end of September! (That means lots of packing!) It's quite hard to think of how exactly one packs for 2 years! But I hear I can purchase many items there--plus they have lemurs! What more could a Peace Corps Volunteer want?

I am a 20-something world-traveler who wants to explore as much as I can. I am living in Madagascar now as a PCV doing Community Health Education. I am a voracious reader, and occasionally dabble in writing poetry. I love being outdoors, especially in Montana. I find the mountains in M'car resemble Montana, so I am very tamana here. I have a passion for spending time with children and I look forward to the adventures life takes me on!
