Today we were heading for Glacier National Park which is about 1 ½ hours north from Bigfork. Unfortunately Dad was still unwell so he decides to stay home and rest so Karen came with us for the day. We left after brekkie and up the Highway and in the distant you could see the ranges they were very impressive. We arrived at the rangers station and payed for our permit into the park and made our way along a narrow and windy road for about 45mins.
The view was just awesome we soon made our way up the mountains were the road dug into the rock and the other side was a steep drop. We stopped a few times on the way up to take in the view and a few pic’s. This time of year they were doing road works due to the ruggedness of this place so they can only do it 4 months of the year as the rest of the time it’s covered in snow. We reached Logan Pass just before lunch and headed into the car park which was very busy, it was like Chermside shop’s at Christmas.
We soon got a park and
walk into the Visitors Centre and had a look at the photo’s and some of the wildlife that we might see out in the park. We decided to walk the trail that took us straight into the park and looking at a herd of bighorn sheep. These guys were huge very big animals it was pretty cool to see. As we were walking around there were little ground squirrels everywhere they were very cute and very friendly.
We ever we walked there was wildlife we saw deer and Heaps of Bighorn sheep. As the Trail got further up the mountain the air got a bit thinner so it was herded to breathe so we had a break for a while. I and the girls and Karen carried on and abbs had a rest we got up abit further and found the snow. The girls were in heaven they didn’t know what to do with themselves it was cool to watch. We took a few pics and walked back down to abby and then carried on to the Visitors Centre.
We decided to carry on down the mountain and go for lunch at Rising Sun were we had a
nice meal. We drove back towards Bigfork it had been a long day up in the mountains. The views were awesome and we can say we will be back again. We got back to the cabin and dad was still no good which was a bugger cos we had to go out for dinner. It was Jens sisters Birthday so we went up the road to a local restaurant with all of the family. We met all of Jens close family friends and family which was good. We all sat down and had dinner and then headed back for coffee and birthday cake at Jens mum and Dad’s place. Gordon had made a yummy cake and we all had a cuppa it had been a big day so we all headed back to the cabin and got the girls into bed and had a cupper and soon went to bed aswell.
