We are now leaving for Alaska. We got Griffin his 70.00 health certificate this morning so we can legally cross the border when the time comes. Had to pay at&t 20 freakin dollars a month to access Mcdonalds "free" wifi. Bullcrap. Anyways, sorry no pics with this post, we forgot the camera in the car and we dont want to wake the dog up. See you all later :) [View Full Entry]

Still at work... My flights for Portugal leaves in: I just finished a long, full, productive day at work. Tomorrow I leave for a month in Europe! A nice long break, with some international studies goes a long way... I will be visiting Lisbon, and spending some time with friends there before moving onto Madrid (via night train) until May 29th. While in Madrid I will be taking IB596 - Case Studies in the European Union. This class satisifes a portion of my Master's requirements, in a fun way. I plan on using this blog as [View Full Entry]

KELLEY AND DAVE’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE The Big Trip West…Notes From the road: WEEK SEVEN. Thursday, July 3. Pam took us for an early morning walk touring her lovely neighborhood with Jasper, Pam’s standard poodle before leaving for breakfast at the local IHop. Over coffee and pancakes Pam gave us good advice about the next leg of our trip. Having lived around St Louis, Pam had a wealth of information to share. She advised us to spend some time in St Charles on the Missouri River before entering St Louis. She also said I must see the Missouri Botanical Ga [View Full Entry]

We are still prepping for our trip to Rome. As of now my wife Lynda and I are scheduled to meet at Fiumicino (Da Vinci) airport on the morning of March 26th. Oddly enough we are traveling to Europe via different flights. My Lufthansa flight heads from Chicago to Frankfurt and then down to Rome and Lynda is flying United from St. Louis through Philly and then over to Rome. She's actually arriving a few hours before me so it'll be interesting finding each other in a foreign airport without phones that work. Which brings me to phones: unfortunately none of [View Full Entry]

Gateway to the West
Gateway to the West
Snapped While Driving...Digital let me just keep pointing and clicking while paying attention to the road- and one turned out pretty decently!
So after several fairwells I departed Indy around noon, and speeding along the good ole Red and Blues, quickly found myself passing St. Louis' famous Arch, and Gateway to the West. Although my Google directions plotted me to circumvent the city and the arch, a quick review of the St. Louis map at the rest area in Illinois prepare me for this treachery, and I cruised within 100 yards of the Arch on a direct route on I-70 through the city, although, of course, traveling 60+ MPH! Unfortunately, after staying up to 3 in the Morning the night before, then waking [View Full Entry]

My first crashing spot- BP
Cozy...
Kansas City Main Street

This is my first blog entry using this site. My reason for starting this blog and maintaining it in addition to my software development blog is due to the fact that I'm beginning to do more traveling for my work and my daughters are beginning to take more of an interest in where I'm going and what I'm seeing. Also, my three daughters (ages 10, 9, and 7) are becoming more computer literate and want somewhere to go and look and pictures and videos of dad's trips. So, I looked around for an additional blog site I could use to keep [View Full Entry]

Sweet New Jacket
Sweet New Jacket
It's my ONE splurge but it's much needed for cold weather Adventure Races!
After a night layover in Columbia (YES I wore my blue KU jacket everywhere) I am finally in St. Louis. Had a fun day hangin out with Maggie and doing a little shopping and running. I got a sweet running jacket that I've wanted for several months and wore it on the trail run. We ran a 9.3 mile loop at Castlewood State Park in 61 minutes, so it was a decent workout. Dinner and a coffee later I'm sitting here exhausted! Got up at 3am this morning AGAIN so it's been quite a long day. We're slated to go on [View Full Entry]

Castlewood Park Sign
Castlewood Park Sign
it's a sign, derrrrr
After a size-a-bowl helping of Lucky Charms and a half cup of coffee this morning we were off to do some training. Mags, Mo and Justin went for a 4 hour road bike session and I hit the trails at Castlewood for a 3 hour mountain bike with a top-o-the-line demo Gary Fisher. It was everything a $3,000 bike should have been! Afterwards we hit up a 60 minute trail run that just about killed me. It's hell trying to keep up with Mags. I mean, she has a full Ironman coming up in two weeks so she's in stellar shape!!! [View Full Entry]

Sometimes going home can be an experience. I'm just writing an update at the moment. I visited home since writing last. I got an email from Travelblog yesterday or the day before saying it has been 175 days since I last visited this site. I have since become more interested in blogging at blogspot.com. And honestly I haven't done any real travelling since I blogged last. One of my cousins took an extended trip through India and wrote such good blogs here that I was inspired to open my own account. I think it's perfect way to tell your friends, family [View Full Entry]

Gateway Arch
Gateway Arch
Controversial in its origin, but now iconic and the Gateway to the West.
I will bet you are saying, St Louis? Why would anyone ever go there? Well, it was business that took me there, but it is the food that would bring me back. I worked for a division of American Express for several years. We were based in St. Louis, not far from Lambert Field, the main airport. I got to know the backroads as well as the best food in this often overlooked city. It is easy to overlook a city on first appearances. I went to my first NHL hockey game here at the Checkerdome. It is also home to [View Full Entry]
