I've just been accepted into a research program. A commitment that would ship me out to the Middle East, Jordan to be exact.

Is it ironic that on this very same day, after two years of pursuit, a lovely Midwesterner has decided to humor me with a date? On top of that, i'm caught in a a whirlwind of the past 10+ years. My obsession with the exploits of T.E. Lawrence and the great adventurers of the 20th century. The Anthropologists who risked their necks in the name of science... and a little self glorification!

The thought of finding myself in the sands of Arabia is intoxicating. To wander the Holy Land of Abrahamism, the cradle of civilization, Petra! What more could you want?

So, here I am, opening this account to document my preparations along with all the adventures sure to ensue as the clock ticks down to March 7th, 2012.
