We are all very excited, as we sit in the Flight Lounge awaiting our flight to Paris. We hope we will be able to keep friends and family updated as our trip progresses on our first ever travel blog. We are snacking on chesse and crackers (and cookies), as it may be our only food between here and Paris. Cristiana says BonJour, she is ready to translate for our family, as she is in the second grade at a French Immersion School. We will keep you posted on our intinerary as make plans along the way. Well here I am sitting in my room after four months at home, finishing up last minute stuff before I get on a plane for Tokyo in 12 hours or so. I'm not really that nervous--I'm just thinking a lot about getting back into the swing of things with school and getting along with everyone in Japan. It's weird, but I've wanted to go to Japan since I was about 6 or so. In elementary school I would always sneak around the foreign countries section (acually, just about a dozen picture books) and look at the Japan book. That and the [View Full Entry]

My last four months

Today is a big day for students and Villanova University and Boston College. We are playing each other in the sweet 16 round of the NCAA tourney. All the students at villanova anxiously await tip off at 7:10 tonight, and I have to admit, im nervous! Last year I was at the game in syracuse when we played UNC, and it was heartbreakingly close, only coming down to a couple bad calls and missed shots, and we lost. Because I can not be at the game this year because its in Minneapolis, I would like to thank technology for providing us [View Full Entry]

Welcome to Gay(Lord) Minnesota
Well, well, well... So I had my one and only journey to Minnesota today. It was really an in and out job. (Not that kind of in and out) The teacher in Arlington was a Mozart fanatic and LOVED our show. The kids in Gaylord, however, were way more enthusiastic. We drove for 6 1/2 hours through the pouring down rain to get to Racine Wisconsin, our next stop. Then off to Milwaukee tomorrow, and a weekend in Chicago! Post Script: I think i'm going to go back to Cali with a Midwestern accent. A cajun californian who sounds like she's [View Full Entry]

School Days
The mascot

Allow me to start out by recommending Sanfaustino natural mineral water...lightly effervescent. And they're not kidding! Currently my favorite quick and tastey source of calcium. I don't always have access to good milk on the road or a way to keep it nice and cold, but these handsome 1 liter bottles are a great way to go, and available at Whole Foods. Forgive me, I must've been channeling the ghost of consumer present. Anyway, I'm barely a week and a half into this 2 month journey, so much has happened and to tell you the truth the details are already [View Full Entry]

The Escape

Amnicon Falls
This is the upper falls than had formed an ice hood. I thought it was pretty cool.
So, my friend Audra and I decided to quickly escape to the city of Duluth in Minnesota. No, it doesn't sound very interesting but then again, we are fans of the quirky. Recently on our travels we found the Stump Fence Capitol of the World. Who would know that over turned tree stumps could cause such a commotion. Anyway, it was the last day before we headed back to school and I had been wanting to show her this city for while. (I had been there before for work.) One of the first places we stopped was an Irish pub but [View Full Entry]

Hi there! This is my first entry in this travel blog. I am still at home, but that will change later this month. I figured that I should get used to using this site if I'm going to take the time to do it while I am abroad. I am studying in Jerusalem next semester. I will be taking amazing courses! I've wanted to go to Israel since I was very, very young, so this will be an amazing experience I am sure! [View Full Entry]

Well, I am getting ready to leave. I leave tomorrow at 5:45 a.m. from Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. I fly into Chicago, have about a 2 hr lay over and then I am on my way to London!!! I should arrive about 10:45 p.m. local time. Then, I am going to catch a bus to Kingston upon Thames to stay with Josh for the evening. Today I finished up the last of my shopping, so I now have everything. Just have to reorganize and right now I am not focused to do such an activity. I have been online most of [View Full Entry]

A Blanket of White
A Blanket of White
I'm clearing my driveway of about 6" of fresh white snow and enjoying the beauty of it all
Greetings, all! Welcome to my travel blog! This site is for friends and family to stay in touch while Marni, Joni, Marc, Fred and Joan are traveling around Europe over Christmas. I'll try not to make it too boring, but I make no guarantees. This first posting is prior to departure. It should get better once we're in Europe :-) As you can see by the photos it's going to be another white Christmas in Minnesota! Fred and Joan arrived in a cloud of snow around noon today and made their first stop at White Castle on their way to our [View Full Entry]

Braving the Elements

morning
morning
The first morning a beautiful fog covered the lake and everything was silent and still. Except for the obnoxious Carlton kids, but that is another story.
We quit work on September 7th and took the last 12 days to prepare for our trip. I can honestly say that it has been the busiest 12 days of my life. Everyday, from 9am until 1am we have been doing things constantly. Every day is spent running erands and getting things in order for the trip, while every night is spent with friends or family, . Its been a manic two weeks and its been wonderful to see so many of our friends. Its hard to believe that tomorrow is our last day here and that at 9am on Monday [View Full Entry]
