i am in Michigan now. i spent the holidays with T's family in Saginaw and got to meet up with some old friends from Alaska/Vashon and hang out at the home. Not much going on but good times relaxing and going around the area finding beautiful things and places to explore.
loved the library. got a big stack of books on topics ranging from: Old Photos of Tipis, Foodlore, Sherman Alexis' book FLIGHT, Maya Angelou, and kahlil gibran.
Now i am back at the strawbale studio.

Today was a good day.
Started with oats, lambsquarter, sunflower seeds and other morning pick me ups. Drank some tea harvested from the land.
Sorted some wood for planned felting projects and organized the pelts.
Bundled up for some outdoor adventuring. made some more tea to take with me
Ate some banana bread (thanks T's mom) with peanut butter for lunch.
Gathered reed collecting tools and headed to the frozen marsh to collect Phragmite.
Sickles in a gloved hand and bundles being gathered in the cold - but the sun was shining in that frozen field.
We were joined by friends and Watched as the sun got lower and our faces glowed
in the last rays of the day.
After all the bundles were tied we loaded into the Beater and got ready to journey home.
Girl in the back with sleeping bags and tarps wrapped around her in the snow - two in the cab.
And a truck with missing gears and grinding noises - stuck in the snow turning around.
And we are off again after some collective swaying of our bodies with the rhythm of the truck.
And to our right - the west - the sun - Fushia skies. what causes a sunset of that intensity?
we tried to find a place to sit in the truck and watch it change - but trees appeared and hills rolled.
Then a deer jumped in front of out car and looked again to our right and there were five in a field. and a sun behind them making them glow in its tripped out colors.
They had played in the snow making designs with their hooves in the untouched ground. Staring at their past frolics.
And we were off again - back home - back to a driveway in which we got stuck yet again. and back to a roof
and a stove and some soaking beans for dinner. made some apple salsa to eat with dinner and am now contently writing with a cup of coffee in hand.
Beautiful day.
