Well, we’re taking our first cruise. It is day two of our trip as I write this, described on our itinerary as a “fun day at sea.” We are far off the coast of Massachusetts. A thick fog has developed on this afternoon, veiling the ocean horizon and bringing chilly winds. The ship, by law, has been regularly sounding the horn to warn any other ships (though their radar and radio are probably of better help). And this is all fine by me. Kristen and I are laying on deck chairs on an upper level deck, which except for a few [View Full Entry]

I have arrived!!! I got here on Thursday Night, it was about a 5 hour plane flight. Not all that interesting. I was greeted by my adorable cousins Ezra and Cyrus and my wonderful host, also my cousin Polly. We had a fantastic time!!! I got to see Boston for the first time and ride the subway for the first time also aka the T here. The city is beautiful and big! It was a drizzlyu rainy day but surprisingly it was still hot and none of us needed jackets. We visited the Harvard Campus, and the Natural History Museum there. [View Full Entry]

I have arrived! Woods Hole is a cute town with the waterfront and ocean right in front of me. The water is a medium temperature, though it is warmer than SB. I had a great day, it was my first day today. I saw my room and got to know everybody. We all live in theste two story cottages with about 10 people in each one, and our house leader. It is a nice house and I like the atmosphere. We take turns cooking and do our own dishes. For cooking and cleaning, we are split up into a watch system [View Full Entry]

and our passports as well

7:30 am on Friday… off we head to Boston. No issues crossing the border, quick stop in Houlton for crappy Tim Hortons (pass) and away we go… stop again in Portland for lunch… we were going to go to Ginger Pad in the Maine Mall, but it’s closed now apparently… hit the Lindt store (mmmm spicy chocolate bars, conveniently all 50% off that day) and Bath and Body Works.. lunch at Macaroni Grill… starting to hate chain restaurants, but that one is fine (though the food is saltier than we would eat in real life for sure)… a quick stop an [View Full Entry]

I'm officially half way through my American Adventure! How exciting! It's the end of the two week session now and I am absolutely EXHAUSTED! Two weeks without a break slowly sucks the life out of you!! Luckily we get a two day weekend to recover! This session we had two out of camp trips! One to a little river to do some kayaking which was kind of cool we saw a whole bunch of wildlife and kayaked around and ate in the boats and what not! I got super burnt because I kept reminding the kids to put sunblock on and [View Full Entry]

Again this summer my friend Sandy opened her Cape house in Harwichport to Karen and I for a week. It’s in a great location near the center of town and a few steps from the beach. Being July on Cape Cod everywhere you look blue hydrangeas are lush and in bloom. We might not like the rain much but plants are loving all the rain. As with most of the lost summer of 2009 we had one good day out of five. Wednesday was a beautiful beach day, we walked the few hundred feet from the house to the beach and [View Full Entry]

July 17, 2009 - Today was a great beach day so Maya and I went to Revere Beach for the annual sand castle competition. It was a great day so the beach had a great crowd. We walked the beach, watched the sculptures and sat on the wall eating Italian sausage subs. Another fun summer day. [View Full Entry]

July 16,2009 -- Roberta, Karen and myself visited Walden Pond in Concord and walked around Walden Pond. The weather was warm humid and overcast but we certainly enjoyed the walk. There's a well defined trail that circles the pond and provides a great way view nature. There's a reproduction of Thoreau's cabin near the entrance of the park and when you walk around the pond a marker commemorates the site of the original cabin. [View Full Entry]
