Better Late Than Never
Published: March 8th 2012North America » United States » Massachusetts » WorcesterIt seems a bit superfluous to continue since Cheryl and Craig are in Florida and we are back home..but let's finish the tale we started even if you know the ending. (The following was written while we were still in Florida, but we had internet connexion problems) An uneventful Wednesday became an uneventful Thursday. We ate late breakfast at the Resort and then boarded buses to Downtown Disney. There are so many things to see (and buy) it is difficult to take it all in, though it seemed somewhat less of an experience than the last time I was there. I’m sure it had a lot to do with we went there at night last time. I would hope the night life there would be “bigger” than the day time. I think Craig took about ... read more
The Beatings Will Continue Until Moral Improves
Published: March 8th 2012North America » United States » Massachusetts » WorcesterFriday was, as previously mentioned, the “Disney Death March”. We got to Animal Kingdom later than planned (breakfast was good) but it seems lines of communications got crossed and we rushed needlessly as Michael was not getting to the park until 11:00. Since we needed him to get into the park we stood and watched an awful lot of trams come from the parking lot and empty out before we could enter. Once inside we had a plan: Kilimanjaro Safari, Kali River Rapids, Safari Walk, the “Bird Show” and Expedition Everest. We walked briskly towards the Safari ride, once we all agreed which direction it was. 20 minutes of wait and we were off.. It was a good call. Michael had said early in the day was best, before the heat of the day starts keeping ... read more

It's a shame we are not partying together. We are at a retirement party for Linda's brother, C&C are at a going away party given for them by Craig's family. I am eager with anticipation for the trip. Do we have any Muppet fans out there? Ever since I woke this morning I have had one of the songs from "The Muppet Christmas Carol" running through my head. "There's only one more sleep 'til Christmas" First day of travel begins in the AM. Hope to make a full length update tomorrow. Be Well... read more

Visit to the Convent of the Sister of Cenacle, L.I., NY
Published: January 25th 2011North America » United States » Massachusetts » WorcesterBefore I left Belgium, my grandsparents told me the story of my great-great-uncle who went to NY in de early twenties. He was a Chaplain at the Cenacle, Lake Ronkonkoma in Long Island, NY. He spent 20 years as a missionary in Mongolia where he taught catechism to the young and old. He got sick and returned to Belgium. In 1926 he went to America where he became a priest of the Diosese of Brooklyn and then a Chaplain of the Religious of the Cenacle. So I decided to visit the convent and his grave in Ronkonkoma. I send an email to the Sisters of Cenacle and Sister Madeline called me back to make an appointment. New York @ Christmas (Day 1)
Published: January 8th 2011North America » United States » Massachusetts » WorcesterFour o'clock in the morning, I get up to get dressed to take the express bus to New York. After almost four hours driving I arrive in the city. It's so cold and I'm happy I have my warm jacket and scarf. First stop the hostel, I take the Red line to 103rd. The subway is crowded by New Yorkers going to work and I'm happy to hop off with my big bag. After I drop my things, I'm heading to the centre by foot. After a couple of blocks and a warm 'Pumpkin Spice Latte' at the Starbucks, I decide to take the subway to South Ferry. The ferry to Staten Island passes by the Statue of Liberty. This ferry is free and even from here I have a nice view of New York skyline ... read more

Thanksgiving Parade in Plymouth
Published: November 30th 2010North America » United States » Massachusetts » WorcesterSaturday I went to Middleboro to pick up two other fellow to go to Plymouth. We went to the annual Thanksgiving parade. This is one of America’s only historically accurate chronological parades, visually bringing to life America’s rich heritage representing each century from the 17th through the 21st. The parade features beautifully decorated floats, nationally recognized Drum and Bugle Corps, re-enactment units from every period of American history and military marching units. Patriotism and hope is revived in the hearts of observant adults and children as the drum and fife, pipe, drum and bugle corps, and military bands play music honoring the courageous defenders of our country: the men and women who serve in the Army, the Navy, the Marines, the Air Force and the Coast Guard. http://usathanksgiving.com/ After this we went to the mall to ... read more
