We were right next to a Denny's so that was the obvious choice for breakfast and it was pretty good. As I am a real nerd I used the bacon to spell out my age just like Walter did on breaking bad. We had a great waitress who kept calling Alex little slugger which was hilarious and we all left behind a good tip. The hall of fame was only 15 minutes down the road and it was an excellent experience. On the top floor they had a full history of the NBA as well as key moments in history at the time, I could have spent all day reading up on everything but I ended up being miles behind everyone else who had moved onto the second floor. The second floor had a lot of ... read more

We finally got out of the rain in Maine. We left on Saturday after having to extend our stay 2 days because of the storm that had come in. It really didn't hit us too hard but the area that we were traveling through, New Hampshire and Vermont, were getting some really nasty winds and rain so we decided we were better off to stay put until everything blew over. Saturday turned out to be a gorgeous sunny day and we didn't really have to travel all too far since we only wanted to make it to Springfield, MA to stay the night so that we could go to the NBA Hall of Fame on Sunday. On our way to Springfield we passed through South Deerfield, MA which is where the Yankee Candle Factory is. We ... read more

As I'm leaving Massachusetts I want share with you my way of remembering how to pronounce the name of this beautiful but unpronounceable state. Remember Pikachu? From Pokémon? Well, it starts very similar, but instead of "Pika" you say "Masa". And then? Then you just say "sets", like in "the sun sets". That's all - "Massa-chu" and then "setts". Massachusetts. Had a lovely time, thanks! Here I come, New York! ... read more

Not quite the worst of times, but this Grand Adventure of mine could have had a better start. I recently read in National Geographic Traveler magazine (yes, cliche, I know) that there has been a spike in filed complaints against the travel industry. The article speculated that there is a directly proportionate relationship between travel mishaps and online bookings. While my travel problems were somewhat caused by booking online, they were more affected by incompetence in airline workers. Ooh, so mad at Hawaiian and Delta airlines. Unfortunately, due to my online bookings, it's hard to blame one of them singularly. I booked one flight with Hawaiian Air from Honolulu to San Diego, off of Hawaiian's website. I called their customer service line later, and asked, if I booked with a different airline as a connector flight, ... read more

I thought it was about time I finalized my travel blog. I have been back in the U.S. for almost two weeks. My last days in Italy were so wonderful and amazing. I checked out of my Tuscan hostel and said goodbye to my roommates. I checked into The Hotel Derby in Florence, with a beautiful view of the city, especially the Duomo. I relaxed a little on the rooftop and then went to further explore Florence. I walked over the Ponte Vecchio looking mostly at the scenery. I walked along the river to discover some new amazing sites but the further I got away from my hotel the more menacing the sky started to look. I decided I better turn around so I wouldn't get caught in a rain shower. I was about a ... read more

I have decided that a travel blog is the way to go to keep everyone up to date on my adventures. I haven't actually gone anywhere yet but I decided to start my blog today. For those of you who don't know, here is the back story: I am going to Italy for 4 weeks. I will be taking a class through Loyola University in Rome for two weeks and then traveling throughout Italy for two more weeks. I have wanted to go to Italy for as long as I can remember and when this opportunity presented itself I jumped on it! I am leaving exactly one week from today! I am really excited, and a little nervous. I feel like I have a million things left to do, but I am getting ready slowly but ... read more

so here it is, my first real entry into the "real life"... ps- it kinda sucks! i like my job, i'm in a really great profession, i get to be silly and make ppl laugh and help them feel better all @ the same time... the big problem is that i'm working with ppl that i have to constantly convince they want to get better- n that's not even really the issue, the bigger issue is that a vast majority of them don't feel the need to get better because they don't want to be alive- n quite frankly i don't blame them, i probably wouldnt' want to be either if i were in the same situations. i should probably mention here that i've been working in a sub acute long and short term rehab facility ... read more

Recently, perhaps fueled by the ending of my educational career and beginning of my quasi-professional career, or perhaps fueled by my new found time to actually reflect on my travels, I have indulged myself into thinking that I could possibly delve into the world of travel writing. Uh huh, travel writing, yup that’s right. However, with no solid English background, except the 3 I got on my AP English exams 5 years ago in High School, and the current lack of funds I have to take the exalted "backpacking through Europe" trip etc etc, this goal seems just slightly out of reach. No problem I said. I could potentially have an audience of fives, if not tens of people if I only jump on what has begun to seem like the largest 21st century band wagon ... read more

Visited US States Map This is a pretty cool feature. Its nice to see the red. I'm looking forward to my road trip to the mid west in February where I'll be able to add a few states! It would be fun for my international friends who are always counting their states between them as a competition!... read more
