Sun Oct 28th. Cutty Hunk Pond, MA The wind is still bowing over 20 so we didn’t move far today. We were swinging over black and white mooring sticks and Vitto thought it was a good idea to move towards shore and be more protected. I agreed. Sat. Oct 27th. Cutty Hunk Pond, MA. Still here and we are not going any where. The wind is blowing hard and we see white caps all around us in a protected area. North America => United-States => Massachusetts => "Cutty Hunk Pond" Fri. Oct 26th. Hewitts Cove in Hingham,MA to Cutty Hunk Pond, MA. Vitto did the final provisioning and we got underway at 0835. Our destination was Cuttyhunk, RI. Winds were out of the east at 10 to 15 kts and the seas were 2 to 3 ft. which made for a bumpy ride. At 0928 we left the Boston’s Lt on our port side heading 240ºM. On our way to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard, we stopped at Mystic Seaport and Newport, Rhode Island. Mystic has an old ship, a museum, an aquarium, and a "village" of shops to wander through. We spent some time wandering around and evjoying teh local scenery, which was fun. Then we went on to Newport, where we did some more walking around, had a fantastic dinner (where Paul tried a crab claw!), and then spent the next morning checking out some of the masions built there. Got up around 7 and headed for Martha’s Vineyard around 8, which is a little over an hour drive. Since it’s the Winter only one ferry is running at Woods Hole. The boat is cool and holds about 20 cars and lots of people. They charged me $6 round trip to take my bike. Talked to a local plumber who lives on Martha’s Vineyard during the ferry crossing. He has been there his whole life. He said there are more people there now days, but said it is good for guys like him because he gets some of the new resident's [View Full Entry]

My time on the Vineyard is now just a memory. After just under four months on the Island of Martha's Vineyard I have taken my last flight from the MVY airport which was for all intensive purposes my home for the summer as I worked 60-90 hours a week and any time I wasn't at the airport or having friends up to visit I was on a US Airways plane back to Athens. So the reason I haven't written in a while is because that tropical storm "Beryl" from my last entry devastated the Island and we've only just restored basic services to the Island....ok not really. The dreaded tropical storm turned out to be about 15 mins of light rain, followed by a beautiful morning. The real reason I haven't made an update is because I have either been out of town or hosting one of the many visitors to this Island paradise.
