Every day when she returns from work, my sister asks me what I have done that day. And I tell her, starting my list (as is only logical) with "Well, I got up....." "Well, you know you aren't busy when you include "well, i got up" in what you did in a day!" snaps my sister. But I have been at least fairly busy - not least with my fitness efforts. The extent of my athletic prowess may be demonstrated by the fact that I judge my success in a class as to whether I am "not the worst" in the [View Full Entry]

Hey everyone! I've started this blog as a means to keep in contact with everyone while I'm gone, rather than typing 50 individual emails to each person telling them about my trip (if that were the case, the only updates would be that I've completed 49 new emails since the last time you heard from me.) Don't worry mom, I'll call you also :) Feel free to send this link to anyone who may want to read... See you in a couple months! -Liz [View Full Entry]

Hello Friends and Family, as you may have guessed by my current location (still Boston, MA), I havn't actually left the country yet. I'm 1 week late, and i've got 1 more week to go...and heres why: Table of Contents: 1) the actual story of what happened that frightful night 2) the quick reader's digest version (for those who prefer the quick sum up) 3) conclusions 1) The Red Brick Road: An Adventure in Peter's Park I had a 6am flight on Sunday Aug 30th, and was planning on arriving to the airport 4am that morning. The night started off great [View Full Entry]

We kicked off our long day of walking by starting at the famous home of the Boston red Sox, Fenway Park. Since there wasn't a game being played there that day we were able to park on the street for the entire day free of charge. After walking around the stadium we headed off to the Prudential Tower. On the way we passed a firehouse which the architecture was amazing and also snagged a picture next to a Ferrari on the street. The views from the top of the tower were exquisite as the weather that day was perfect. Next stop [View Full Entry]

This week I have become relunctantly addicted to American TV (and those of you who know me well will know that I don't watch much TV at home). But American TV is something else. One show in particular has captivated my interest and it could only be made in America. It's called "Dance Your Ass Off" and its an addictive combination of "The Biggest Loser" (uber-emotional weight-loss programme for those of you not in the-know) and "Strictly Come Dancing". In a nutshell, the show is based on a group of contestants, all of whom have clearly overindulged at the local All-You-Can-Eat [View Full Entry]

Hey Gang, So here I am, all set to leave the country for 9 months. For those of you who i havn't talked to in awhile, here's a brief sum up of my life and what i'm doing: I've finished 3 (out of 4) years of med school at Tufts in Boston. Its been pretty fun (sometimes), but at the end of the day, I still regret going strait from college to med school without taking a year off in between. So 3 years later, i'm making up for that mistake with a year abroad now. I'll start out my trip [View Full Entry]

Well, I have now had a chance to fully settle into Boston and thought I should give an account of my (uncharacteristically athletic) weekend. The weather was forecast to be pretty bad over the weekend so we had to reschedule our original plan of going berry-picking on Saturday. Instead my sister announced that we would start the day by going to her gym to do a class intimidatingly-named "Cardio Combat!" I kind of make it a point of principle not to do a class with the words "Combat" in its name (similarly "Power", "Blast", "Attack", etc) as they frankly all sound [View Full Entry]

As we got ready for the day we noticed the weather sure wasn't going to cooperate with us and we were prepared to get a little damp. With umbrella in tow we headed off to catch the T and start off our day. Our first stop was the New England Aquarium (we opted to get the Boston City Pass (http://www.citypass.com/city/boston.html) Upon arriving at the aquarium we decided to take in the 3-D Imax show before heading inside as it was in a separate building. we dont recommend visiting on a weekend, especially a holiday weekend in the rain as the place [View Full Entry]

Well, this is my first blog. I told a friend that I was planning to start one and got told "it'll be far too well-written and detailed. The public wouldn't be able to handle it". Now, I am not sure if it will be well-written, but it is very likely to be detailed! I finished up work 2 weeks ago and am now safely arrived in Boston where I am visiting my sister for a month. This is about my 6th visit to Boston but I always tend to travel January/February or October/November and the weather is much hotter now than [View Full Entry]

Greetings all from this wonderful European café I stumbled upon called "Café Fleming-Marino" It is just so wonderful - one of the owners, Bryan, picked me up from the station around 8:30 last night and even paid for my taxi to the Guest House. We enjoyed a wonderful meal and conversation before retiring to the blow-up double bed for the evening! I'm now sipping on my coffee and enjoying the sights and sounds! It is almost like I never even left the country! Oh wait - I NEVER LEFT THE COUNTRY. NOT EVEN BOSTON. Yesterday [View Full Entry]
