Our Kabin at Capitol KOAOur Kabin at Capitol KOAOur Kabin at Capitol KOA

The Kamping Kabin we stayed in at Capitol KOA, Millersville, MD.
Saturday, 6 June

After a leisurely packing up in the morning, we left the Virginia Beach KOA headed towards D.C. and the Capitol KOA in Millersville, Maryland, about 215 miles and 3 or 4 hours driving. Along the way, we continued to find eccentric glitches in the GPS program, Street Atlas 2009, where it would either fail to tell us North or South for an upcoming highway change, or lose track of where we were, showing our car driving thru an empty meadow and telling us to turn back, or something equally strange. In spite of the horrendous traffic in and near D.C., we finally reached our new KOA around 3pm. We'd put off eating lunch, so after checking in, we found a nearby Chipolte Mexican Restaurant and decided to give it a try. You pick the dish (burrito, fajita burrito, burrito bol, tacos, or salad), then the meat (chicken, 2 kinds of beef, shredded pork, or vegetarian), then your salsa. Manoli had a vegetarian salad and I had a burrito bol with shredded pork and roasted corn salsa. Both were quite good and it was a pleasant new experience. After lunch, we returned to the KOA to check on

tours and relax before going jogging. We ended up doing about 4 miles on nearby roads. Manoli finished her salad from lunch and I went and got a salad from Chic-Filet. We bought round trip shuttle tickets for both Sunday and Monday, along with 2-day tickets for the hop-on-hop-off narrated tourmobile of D.C. The shuttle tickets were $10 each, per day and a great deal when you think of the alternative, driving into D.C., finding and paying for parking, then driving back. They leave the KOA at 9am, drop us off at the Capitol, then pick us up at 5pm. The Tourmobile tickets were $27 each for one day, but only $35 each for two days, so we opted for the 2-day tickets. We'll let you know how it goes, but for now, its 11pm and time to hit the hay.
