Well it was time to save and publish another few days of blogs so if you have not been following on your own you might want to resume from Day 18 posted a few days ago. Alarm went off at 7.45am and I headed straight to the window and I saw clouds with what appeared to be a resemblance of blue sky as well. Yippee. We did most of the packing last night and we had minimal breakfast supplies in the room to save some time (the delicious OJ we had bought at Newport with a Yoghurt I grabbed from breakfast yesterday). Wednesday 28th : We decided to ride to Jackman Maine which is very close to the Canadian border, to get to the end of the old BDR route. Leaving Eustis/Stratton, we headed North on what was the original last section of the NEBDR. We got onto a gravel road around 20 miles out of town which once again was a fun ride with a backdrop of stunning fall colours. A whole tourist industry is built around this seasonal vista. The Motelier has told us that their busy season is just starting. Apparently, tourists come from far and wide to witness and photograph this amazing natural phenomenon...we could see why as we rode through the forest. We take Amtrak from Boston to Portland, Maine. We arrive at 2:40 PM but our Airbnb will not let us in until 4 PM. We walk to Bunker Brewery dragging our luggage behind us. The brewery is quiet and we find a table outside. We enjoy the beer until it is time to call an Uber to take us to our Airbnb. We rented a one bedroom, one bath unit with a living room and kitchen. After settling in we walk to Whole Foods to buy supplies for breakfast and tonight’s dinner, We made dinner then relaxed and watched television.Mark was able to hook the tv up to our home Dish account and we were able to watch last weeks 60 Minutes. I spent 4 days and 3 nights in the Acadia National Park. I had never heard of it before but apparently is a very popular large park in this region. My first night was in the Schoodic area. I did a few hikes close to camp but was not overly impressed with this newly developed part of the park. The next morning I had reservations to drive the Cadillac Mountain top. My reservation was for 7:30 a.m. so the sun was up, a low layer of fog laid between the mountains, but the view was wide, far, and blue skies. My next two nights of camp was at Blackwood Campground. Shelley and I departed Hadley’s Point Camp Grounds yesterday. Taking Highway 3 into Ellsworth for some light shopping and supplies refresh before heading back into Canada. We stopped in at TJ Maxx for a little shopping, then over to the LL Bean Factory Outlet. The Outlet was fantastic; Shelley liked that all the clothing was actually organized into sizing properly - nothing was just shoved together Willy-nilly for her to sort through. Refreshing. I found some more clothing items and we even picked up a little flotation device for Maggie to wear when we are boating or kayaking. Departing here, the directions took us up Highway 3 and had us turning right onto North Street.
