What an excellent but tiring day. We walked and walked and walked...all day, and we saw alot. After a very busy breakfast here at the hotel, we went out for a day of exploring the French Quarter. We followed a self guided walking tour pinched from the Frommers website, walking the streets of the French Quarter and reading the stories of the various buildings and the neighbourhood. We stopped briefly at the Croissant D'or for a chocolate croissant and a rest, and eventually took our lunch at Cafe Beignet. We shared a Mufalatta sandwich and an order of 3 beignets, and Jackie had the traditional coffee with chickory. It was all delectible. The beignet especially. Oh my are they good. Sweet, but not too sweet, flaky, soft and warm....addictive. We continued with our tour, seeing what seemed like every corner of the district.

After finishing the tour, we went up town to see Louis Armstrong Park with Congo Square, and did a little souvenir shopping in the French Market and around town. At long last at about 4:30 we ended up back at the hotel, having probably walked for nearly 6 hours. We relaxed, drank lots of water, and relaxed soem more. Eventually we got ready for a very highly anticipate dinner at Emeril's New Orleans and we off at just before 7pm.

The dinner at Emeril's was amazing, exceeding our expectations. The service was great, the location and building great, and especially the food was great. We had:

- Sticky Buffalo Chappapella Farms Duck Wings: Shaved Celery, Red Grapes, Whipped Blue Cheese Crème Fraiche
- Truffled Shrimp “Louis” Salad: Iceberg Wedge, Apple Smoked Bacon, Chopped Egg

- Scallops n’ Grits: Maine Scallops, Carolina Rice Grits, Truffled Watercress, Pancetta, Shiitake, Urchin – Gulf Shrimp Scampi Butter
-Char Grilled Creekstone Farms Beef Ribeye: Louisiana Crawfish “Poutine”, Creole Tomatoes, Local Chilis, Scallion Chimichurri

- Emeril’s Banana Cream Pie: Graham Cracker Crust, Caramel Sauce, Chocolate Shavings

Spectacular. What a meal.

And here we are back at the hotel, full bellies, relaxing and getting ready for bed. Tomorrow, an easy morning, and an afternoon in the Garden District. Should be great.
