Our stay in Kentucky

My husband and I decided to take one last short trip before the New Year. We decided to try out the 16th largest city in the nation, Louisville, Kentucky. Because we do not like to stay in the city, we googled information on lodging outside of the city. We really enjoy the country and rural environments since we both grew up in the country with fishing and boating, and quietness. We discovered a new lakeside resort just outside of Louisville in Taylorsville, KY. Turns out it was only 25 minutes from the city! The name of the place was Edgewater Resort, and it was gorgeous! The resort consists of 2 and three bedroom cottages, fully furnished, and we were informed by the staff that no two cottages are exactly alike! They do their own interior decorating and almost everything in the cottages is custom made! The furnishings are beautiful! Each cottage has a nice-sized hot tub on the deck, which overlooks the lake water or woods. We chose a lakeview cottage, and the weather cooperated with us throughout our stay. We didn't go boating because the water was a little chilly, but we made use of the complimentary trail bikes the resort offers to their guests. They also have hiking trails that their Naturalist had planned out. We were also told that during warmer months, they offer canoes to their guests, and they even launch them for you! The Naturalist does lake pontoon excursions, hiking excursions, and they have a fishing guide! The scenery was absolutely beautiful! There are families of white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, raccoons, and bunnies! The stay was absolutely worry-free. Our cottage had a full kitchen, washer and dryer room, living room with cable tv and wireless Internet, and even a stone gas fireplace! It's just as big as a house and they supply all the linens, paper products, pot and pans, plates and utensils--everything we needed! And the place was so clean and everything seemed to be exactly in its place when we arrived! The staff is very nice; it's like we have known them as close friends even though we were strangers! Another great part is that the cottages are not expensive to rent- great price and value for all that we got! We plan to go back at least a couple times a year.
