The Wagoners
The Wagoners
Analisa, David and Aunt Mary Catherine
Time to update my blog. I've been feeling guilty about not being more prompt about putting my pictures online especially since I do seem to have the time to show them to people as I move around. So the first bunch are from when I spent my first six nights in Kentucky in Carlisle at my Aunt Mary Catherine's house. I had a great time as always although this was my longest stay out there to date and I was glad to finally be able to use my cell phone again once I left the country. It's funny how attached you [View Full Entry]

This is the beginning of something I probably should have started several weeks ago, but I didn't know this site existed. My husband Kevin works for Averitt trucking at the moment. In a month he will have a full year of total driving experience and we plan to go with someone who pays a bit better. The following will be brief comments on the places we have gone in the last 2 weeks. I will give better details on newer entries. Began by going to Maryland, I don't remember what we carried or what it was exactly. On October 15th, we [View Full Entry]

First, before I blog about my awesome weekend in northern Spain, I’d just like to give a big shout out to my University of Kentucky Wildcats for beating #1 ranked LSU last night in what was probably the most exciting game in college football. I, of course, wasn’t able to actually watch the game and was forced to wait for updates on ESPN.com play-by-play. It was torture waiting for those updates and not being able to actually see what was going on, but in the end I am proud to report that #17 ranked UK upset #1 LSU - I am [View Full Entry]

Memorial Hall
Memorial Hall
One of the most easily recognozied buildings on campus, Memorial Hall was built in 1929 as a memorial to those who served in WWI. Inside the lobby is a hotly contested fresco painted in the early 20t... [more]
The head must bow and the back will have to bend, Wherever the people may go; A few more days and the trouble all will end In the field where sugar-canes may grow; A few more days for to tote the weary load, No matter, 'twill never be light, A few more days till we totter on the road, Then my old Kentucky home, good night! Our last day here in Lexington before we offically become homeless citizens of the states. Amid the endless rush to pack, we broke ourselves away long enough to walk through campus one more time so [View Full Entry]

Miles Traveled: 0 Miles Hiked: 4 With little more than two weeks before our move, we’ve decided to experience all we could of Lexington before we leave. Not only will this allow us to depart without any regrets of missed adventure, but our local excursions give us plenty of fodder for blogging practice before the real journey begins. After waking up early to enjoy the farmers market downtown, we cleaned out the car and drove south to Raven’s Run, a nature sanctuary dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of the Kentucky River Palisades with nearly 10 miles of hiking [View Full Entry]

Kentucky celebrates April with Red Bud Festivals throughout the state. Drifts of the more purple than red trees in flower color the road sides. They seem to clash with forsythia and contrast with the bright white of the dogwoods. It looks like spring; but it is cold and it snowed on Saturday while we were at opening day at Keenland Race Course. We are staying at Kentucky Horse Park Campground. We have camped here before and really like it. The Horse Park itself is like DollyWood for Equines - every breed imaginable, horse shows, equestrian demonstrations, carriage rides, etc. Keenland [View Full Entry]
