Sort of slept in. Breakfast. I took a short nap again after that. Florence, Craig and I then headed for the church. And let me tell you.
It’s huge! The auditorium is as big as ours, at least as deep, and wider for sure. With a gym, and like 6 buildings (labeled A-F). Gynormous. And so nice! These people are so excited to have us and bent over backwards if ever we needed anything. Sarah and I (wow! Did I mention we picked up the kids and everyone at the airport!?! Yea! All the kids came down the escalator and saw me and got really excited! They’re home!) walked around quite a bit and had some good times of chatting. We also found 4 (yes, FOUR) other auditoriums! Full, with lights and sound and video.
So, in the main auditorium, the stage is awesome, and has several video screens. On top of that, there are several hanging screens (of coroplast) and also coroplast around the front of the band platforms, all of these are there for the sole purpose of lighting ;) Will try to get some pics up soon.
Hung out, played with the kids, the usual. Normally, I would be in a hotel room, since I’m not technically here as a chaperone, but I missed Sarah, so I told Sharye I would happily go in a host family if I could be with here (especially since I’ve never been in one and don’t know the ropes.) She happily complied. Sarah and I are here, at the house of Gino (who is not as funny as ours) and Karen. And with us, we have Ruthie, Joan, Stella and Travisan. Next door (so practically with us) are Auntie Harriet, Brenda, Ruth, Suzan, and Rita. Fun!
I’ve heard many-a horror story about host families, and this obviously isn’t one. Their house is huge! And they’re more than willing to do whatever is needed. What do we want for dinner? What do we want for breakfast? What can we help you do on your day off? Wow. And, they have a dog, Kramer, who loves to cuddle! Well, he’s sort of a dog, a schnauzer, but he’ll do.
In this house, there’s a sort of modern art picture of Jesus. It’s very cool but kind of freaked me out at first- it looks exactly like Joel Howard! I’ll try to take a picture and post it soon.
Kyle, Sarah, Sharye and I have the day off tomorrow. So, at a specific time, we’re going to go pick them up (in the Mustang) and get lunch. Then bring them back to our house for movies and pool. Yes, there’s a pool table downstairs, and oh how happy are we!
