Cadiz Pig--Downtown
The dowtown streets have about two dozen pig statutues all over the area. The town has a county ham festival in the fall. Cadiz Kentucky is a small town just off Interstate 24 in Trigg County. KInpow in the p;ast ofr it's outstndidn g cocuntry hams, many which have won prizes at fairs throughout the state. We noted this years festivle was scheduled for October. If we are close to the area we plan to return. The small town had 2373 people in 2000. The downtown area is what impressed up the most. A lot of the old builings have been cocnverted to antique stores and we did not find many empty builings in the downtown area. This is unusual in this day and time. What is even more unusual is the display of painted hogs throughout the downtown area. The streets are clean. When we were there few drivers (if any) complied with the 25MPH speed limit through town . thus if you are walking, watch for the traffic. There is a large justice center in downtown that takes away from the age old quaintness of the city. For us too many of these monster justice center structures are cropping up in town after town apaprenelty since "free money" is readily avaiable from state and federal sources. We did not find any dining places downtown
Church Downtown
One of several churches located downtown CADIZ however just a short distance away toward Interstate 24 one will find several restaurants as well as up to date shopping facilities. The town is only a short distacne from Kentucky and Barkley Lakes with fishing and boating. This is a nice tourist area worth one's time when traveleing in this direction.
