There are less than two weeks before I leave! I'm using this time to tie up a LOT of loose ends and to say goodbye to everyone I love.
I got information on my host family a few days ago. I'll be living with a woman and her daughter, they are both named Carmen. The elder Carmen, whom I'll most likely refer to as "Senora," is 45 and works at a beauty salon. Her daughter Carmen is 20, (my age!) and a student as well. They live about 15 minutes from the University. I also have a roommate, something I'm very happy about! Her name is Linsey, and she is a jr. at a Catholic College in MA. I can hardly wait to meet everyone.
I fly out on January 22nd, from Kansas City, around 2:00 in the afternoon. From there I'll have a layover in Atlanta and then board my 8-hour flight to Madrid. I should arrive in Spain around 9:00 a.m. local time on Monday the 23rd. We'll be spending Monday and Tuesday in Madrid for orientation and touring, leaving Wednesday for Toledo, then visiting Cordoba on Thursday on our way to Seville, where I will be living and going to school. I don't start classes until February 6th, so will have ample time to orient myself to the area!
For those of you at K-State, I'm having a small, informal going-away party Thursday, Jan 19th at 7:00 p.m. at the Union Bowling Alley. Stop by if you can and tell me goodbye. I'd love to see you!
