The morning was blue sky and 12 degrees.

Today Debbie’s sister-in-law Connie came with us on a drive through the countryside to see the Bridges of Madison County. These are 6 historic covered bridges in the countryside close to Des Moines.

We had lunch at Winterton and went to see the house that was the birthplace of John Wayne.

When we got back to Des Moines, Debbie took me for a drive through the city centre of Des Moines and then through some of the suburbs.
