14 october sunday i am in minnesota and... on the way here, my plane from san francisco was delayed for about an hour because of rain. apparently my suitcase and soccer bag that were with the checked luggage weren't covered up all the way, because when i got to minnesota...they were soaked through!! thankfully not the whole thing. but a lot of my clothes were drenched so before going to sleep, my Farmor-father's mother in swedish-and i draped my clothes all over my room and upstairs hallway to dry over night. and around the edges of my notebooks were water damaged, and the bottom of my stinking laptop was soaked. can you believe it?! crazy. but whatever. i met a couple of friendly older adults with whom i got to talk about what i'm doing in ... read more

My cousin once asked, "So how are you liking it there in Chi-Town?" I said, "What Chi-What?" She said, "Chi-Town is what some folks call Chicago" Ohhhhhh!!! Okay. I thought she was referring to Chinatown. But anyways, I was finally able to go to Chicago's Chinatown on the birthday of my roomie's officemate. Chow time! Just a few facts... As of this writing, Chi-Town's Chinatown, as per Wikipedia, is the third largest in the US. The largest is in New York and I yet have to see it when I go there this Christmas! YEY! My FIRST Autumn From Evanston, we drove towards south to get to Chinatown. It took us about an hour to get there. I'd like to note, however, that once again, the season has changed. It's Autumn already! My first Autumn in ... read more

I forgot to add this - I meant to add it before adding anything else to the blog. Just reflections after going to Chicago for my Visa on why I love the city so much... I am in love with the city. C'est le bonheur quand j'erre. Reflections after Chicago. I got off the bus at about 8:00 AM, stepped onto the street, and slipped into the city. I call it slipping into the city because it reminds me of the way you put on a jacket; the air and noises are the texture of the fabric against your arms, and the cut and fit of the jacket are how well the city suits you. It's like how slipping on a business suit, a uniform, a hat, or a red dress can cause you to assume an ... read more

Hey all, Less than 24 hours after my arrival back in Atlanta from Sydney, I followed Logan and Adrienne to Chicago, Illinois, for supporting their first marathon. I never have guessed that we would be part of history. Chicago Marathon turned out to be a brutal event due to unexpected heat, and the official were forced to shut down the course four hours after the start in the mid of 88-degree heat and sweltering humidity. One runner died on the race course, while 49 others were brought to hospital and some 250 were treated at the site. Unfortunately Logan and Adrienne also didn’t finish the marathon with some 10,934 other runners. We were a little bit upset, but nothing we can do at this point. -Cy ... read more

Day one - Left our Heathrow hotel at 9am Friday morning, and landed in Chicago at 3.15pm local time, Everything literally ran really smoothly, although I might add Katie did ask when in the lift at the Heathrow hotel which floor we needed to get out at to pick up our bus to the terminal - After a short blank look on my face I replied "Ground, Katie, like all hotels...." Classic of Katie's I guess. Got our luggage and out within half an hour of getting off the plane. Straight off to Hertz to pick up our Mustang! After a few moments of pushing and shoving we eventually got the luggage in the boot (plus a few bits on the back seat) We dropped our luggage into the hotel and shot straight of to the ... read more

Collected the bikes today, Saturday (8th) and headed out of Chicago nervous and excited. A big group on the organised tour left about an hour before we did and looked very impressive! Felt a bit like a carry on film with Wayne leading and the three of us behind playing catch up. First night ended up in Lincoln and booked into a Super 8 Motel, breakfast was included and managed to 'get a deal' on the price. Little did we know this would be our regular haunt until Los Angeles. Had food in a large warehouse, drinks spilt over me so my food was free - mad owner - almost ran out of the place! Sunday (9th) continued journey along Route 66, stopping at Chain of Rocks Bridge which was the old Route 66, stolled along ... read more

Headed out to Chicago on Thursday to start journey on Route 66, starting at Chicago and ending in Los Angeles. Arrived in Chicago for two days, spent our time at the Harley Davidson's shop, sightseeing on the open top bus with Walt the Tour guide and went up Sears Tower for some excellent views and had to pay a visit to Hard Rock Cafe to pick us the obligatory shot glass! Had my birthday here and went to the Cheesecake Factory for food with massive desserts. ... read more
